What is PBX?

PBX is Private Branch Exchange.

PBX is a type of business telephone system that manages incoming and outgoing phone calls, as well as
internal communications within an organization.

It is a multiline telephone system typically used in business environments, allowing multiple extensions
and lines to be connected to a central switchboard.

What is Debian?
Operating System of 3CX, Currently in V20 we are using Debian 12.

What is PSTN?
PSTN stands for Public Switched Telephone Network
PSTN uses copper wires, fiber optic cables, switching centers, cellular networks, satellites, and cable
systems to carry voice data. When you make a call, your voice is carried through the network to the
recipient's phone

What is SIP Trunk?


SIP: Session Initiation Protocol.
Trunking: When all phone lines come together and create a backbone and connectivity.

> A phone-system that connects an IP PBX system to both the internet and the PSTN, allowing users to
call any phone number-by using just an internet connection.
> If you already have a PBX or server then you can use SIP trunk for Inbound and Outbound calling.

What is SBC?
SBC stands for Session Border Controller

A device that controls and protects the flow of IP communications between networks.
SBCs are used to regulate real-time communications like VoIP, video, text chat, and collaboration
sessions. They can help ensure that calls are secure and properly managed. Some of the functions of an
SBC include:

• Security: SBCs can protect against toll fraud and service theft. They can also provide media and
signaling encryption.

• Compliance: SBCs can help organizations meet regulatory compliance requirements by


providing features like call recording, call monitoring, and call logging

requirements.
