PBX Architectures

✗ TDM PBX
✗ IP-Enabled TDM PBX
✗ IP-PBX
✗ Converged IP-PBX
TDM PBX
IP-ENABLED TDM PBX
IP-PBX
CONVERGED IP-PBX
Outwardly, a converged PBX looks like an IP-enabled PBX, but it has
several important differences.
✗ The processor is server-based and likely runs a commercial operating
system.
✗ It controls both IP and TDM stations, which are assigned according to
users’ needs.
✗ Unlike the IP-enabled PBX, a converged PBX does not have IP line
and trunk cards. Effectively, it is separate IP and TDM PBXs
connected through a gateway and controlled by a common processor.
✗ Architecturally, it is similar to central office switches that support both
IP and TDM stations.
