CHAPTER 1
DAINY - Good morning everyone we are here to tackle the negative effects of classroom noise pollution
towards the selected students of Mount Carmel High School of Rosario. But before we proceed to our
topic let me introduce myself I’m Dainy Rose Fuerte and these are my members ms. Rendon, ms. Chua,
ms. Jayoma, ms. Mojica, ms. Flores and mr. Ecol. so let’s proceed on our topic, ms jayoma start the
introduction.
CHIERLYN - Noise pollution is an invisible danger. It cannot be seen, but it is present nonetheless, both
on land and under the sea. Noise pollution is considered to be any unwanted or disturbing sound that
affects the health and well-being of humans and other organisms.
RHYL - Noise pollution does not provide a clear and immediate threat to human health in the same way
that polluted water and air do. The word “noise” comes from the latin “nausea,” which means
“seasickness.” Any sound that is unwanted or disagreeable is referred to as “noise.”
KAILA - The decibel is the most widely used sound measuring unit. The decibel level at which sound
becomes physically uncomfortable is often set at 80. Noise pollution can have a negative impact on a
student’s ability to learn.
NESSA - As a result of overcrowding and higher average classroom sizes, many children are harmed by
noise pollution within and surrounding their schools.
JERRA - In the classroom, background noise can come from many places, including the following;
Sounds from inside the building, such as students talking in the hallway. And Sounds from inside the
classroom, such as air conditioning units and students in the room.
JARED - Back then, students in the classroom it’s good to consider the acoustics within their learning
environment. The effects of this noise pollution impacts learning, as well as physical and mental health.
Classroom noise pollution impacts millions of people on a daily basis.
DAINY - The most common health problem it causes is Noise Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL). Exposure to
loud noise can also cause high blood pressure, heart disease, sleep disturbances, and stress.
RHYL - According to Shield et. Al (2008) emphasized that children are subjected to a variety of noise at
school, including external, environmental, and noise generated within the classroom. Previous research
has shown that noise has a negative impact on children’s academic performance, including decreased
memory, motivation, and reading ability.
KAILA - Noise in classrooms leads to increased stress and the teacher having to raise their voice louder.
This could in the long term affect students and teachers. (Pulsar Instruments 2022). However, the size of
the classroom isn’t the only element that contributes to noise pollution in the classroom.
CHIERLYN - Schools located near highways, airports, hospitals, or trains are subjected to a great deal of
controllable external noise. Schools lack the capacity to accommodate all of the student, resulting in
overcrowding in the classrooms, which it make it difficult for kids to study their lectures.
RHYL - Classroom noise pollution can be lowered by installing enough sound insulation and using quiet
air conditioners. To make moving classroom furniture more quiet, felt pads can be placed beneath it,
and minimizing the voice of the students.
KAILA- As a student of Mount Carmel High School of Rosario we have experienced, encountered and
suffer classroom noise pollution from this problem the time that we still have a face to face classes back
then like what was mentioned about. Such as; sounds from inside the building, students talking in the
hallway, the negative effects of the classroom noise pollution of students in MCHS are their academic
performance, can decreased their memory, motivation, and reading ability.
CHIERLYN - Also, can be caused of distraction and loss of focus while listening to a discussion, and
students have to talk louder and louder. The following is the objectives and ms mojica will read it.
NESSA – OBJECTIVES. the purpose of the study is to identify the negative effects of classroom Noise
Pollution towards the students of Mount Carmel High School. Also, to assess how these effects affect the
learning habits of the participants. Next is the significance of the study that will be read by ms flores and
mr. ecol
JERRA - SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY. The study has significance to the students administrators,
teachers and to the future researches. STUDENTS. This study would make them aware of their own
actions and could possibly minimize their noises that would greatly affects on their fellow students
learning.
JARED - TEACHERS. The findings of the study will serve as a guide for them to implement some
disciplinary actions as a conflict resolution for the problem arises. FUTURE RESEARCHERS. All the data
and information gathered in this study will give them enough knowledge for their study related to this
topic. They can used this study as their reference or sources supporting their relevant studies.
Thereafter is the scope and limitation which ms fuerte interpret it.
DAINY - SCOPE AND LIMITATION. This study mainly focused on the negative effects of classroom noise
pollution. Other than that, this only focused on the participant’s response coming from the students of
Mount Carmel High School. To be specific, the participants were the selected Grade 10 students of
Junior High School. This time we will now discuss the definition of terms which ms rendon, ms chua, ms
jayoma, ms mojica, ms flores, mr ecol, and me will explain it.
RHYL - DEFINITION OF TERMS. The following terms were defined according to how they are being used
in the study.
KAILA - CLASSROOM NOISE POLLUTION. This refers to the excessive noises coming from the students
that create detrimental effects on the students learning.
CHIERLYN - NEGATIVE EFFECTS. This refers to the harmful effects created by disruptive noises.
NESSA - CLASSROOM. This refers to the venue where the student is studying.
JERRA - DECIBEL. A unit used to measure the intensity of a sound or the power level of an electrical
signal by comparing it with a given level on a logarithmic scale.
JARED - HARM.Damage the health of, or have an adverse effect on.
DAINY - MENTAL HEALTH.Encompasses emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It influence
cognition, perception, and behavior. It also determines how an individual handles stress, interpersonal
relationships, and decision-making.
RHYL - WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION. The world Health Organization is a specialized agency of the
united nations responsible for international public health.
CHAPTER 2
RHYL - We will now proceed to chapter2 which is the research methodology. This chapter deals with
research design, research locale, participants, population and sample, research instrument, data
collection and analysis. In this chapter ms fuerte, mr ecol, ms mojica, and ms flores are the ones who
will discuss it with you.
DAINY - RESEARCH DESIGN. The descriptive survey method was used in this study to seek answer to the
questions. The purpose of the study is to identify the negative effects of classroom Noise Pollution
towards the students of Mount Carmel High School. Also to assess how these effects affect the learning
habits of the participants. It will be a fact finding method in which the process of descriptive method is
utilized. It will serve to describe what transpire from the response gathered from the respondents.
JARED - RESEARCH LOCALE. The study was conducted at Mount Carmel High School. This school are
located in the Municipality of Rosario Agusan Del Sur. It can be reached through riding motorcycles and
tricycles. Location Map of Mount Carmel High School.
JERRA – PARTICIPANTS. The participants of the study are Grade 10 students in Mount Carmel High
School of Rosario. There were 80 selected students that served as the participant of the study.
POPULATION AND SAMPLE
SCHOOL TOTAL POPULATION SAMPLE
MOUNT CARMEL HIGH SCHOOL 105 80
(GRADE 10)
Convenience Sampling is used in this study. The participants were the one who is easiest to access.
NESSA - RESEARCH INSTRUMENT. The instrument that the researchers used is questionnaire. It aimed to
gather information from participants through a series of questions. Often, questions were scored and
scores summed would obtained an overall measure of the participants. DATA COLLECTION. The
researchers wrote a letter to the Principal of the school that was chosen as participants of the study.
After the approval, the researchers went to the schools to personally distribute the questionnaire. The
data collected was scored, tallied and tabulated.
CHAPTER 3
CHIERLYN –chapter 3 which is the RESULTS AND DISCUSSIONS. Ms. Chua, ms. Rendon, ms. Fuerte, mr.
ecol, and me will lecture it to you. This Chapter discussed the answer to the problem in the study,
corresponding analysis, data interpretation and the discussion of the findings are presented in order
with the problem as follows:
KAILA - Problem 1: What are the negative effects of Classroom Noise Pollution? ~~~~~~~
RHYL - Table shows the responses of the participants regarding the negative effects of classroom noise
pollution. The overall description of participants is agree which means that the students of Mount
Carmel High School encountered such effects of classroom noise pollution. Students generally agree on
the statements on the survey questionnaire.
DAINY - Problem 2: How these effects affect the learning habits of the students?
•Reduced students learning motivation
•Affecting the intelligibility of speech
•Reduced reading/listening comprehension
•Affects teaching and learning process
•Decline of students academic performance due to constant exposure to noise
•Loss of concentration and poor attention during class discussions
•Students can’t fully participate and engage on the activities given by the teachers.
The result shows that majority of the participants affecting their learning habits due to the effects of
excessive noise encountered.
JARED - According to Buchari (2015) stated that environmental factors such as “noises” affect the
students performance as reported by the most of recent studies that the association between teachers
knowledge and students learning has contributing factors to the students outcomes. Moreover, the
effects of noise in the classroom can make several disorders in students learning, communication and
intelligence.
CHIERLYN - Long term and repeated noise exposure can lead to a psychological health as well as its can
reduce the students learning motivation when they are at school. Basically, the noise in the school
environment affects the teaching and learning process. Additionally, it can disturb the clarity of the
child’s voice in the classroom and the loss of concentration during school activities and even lead to a
decline of students academic performance due to constant exposure to noise. The noise might hinder
the students to improve their talent, where environment is one of the central factors in optimizing an
individual performance of his or her everyday activities. Students learning experiences contribute to the
development of their interest In particular learning domains. Hence, if the domains are influenced by
noise, the students cannot fully concentrate.
CHAPTER 4
KAILA –at the moment we are in the last chapter which is the SUMMARY, CONCLUSIONS AND
RECOMMENDATIONS and will be tackled by ms flores, mr. ecol, ms. Fuerte, and ms. rendon. This
Chapter includes the summary, conclusions, and recommendations.
JERRA – SUMMARY. This study aimed to identify the negative effects of classroom noise pollution
towards the students of Mount Carmel High school. The study used convenience sampling design using
a questionnaire in getting the needed data. The research locale of the study was at Mount Carmel High
School of Rosario. The total population of the participants were the ones that are easiest to access. The
researchers used a validated questionnaire to conduct the study and for them to gather information
about the research questions mentioned.
JARED - The result shows that students generally agree on the negative effects of the classroom noise
pollution towards their learning habits. It only means that they thoroughly encountered those effects
stated on the survey questionnaire.
DAINY – CONCLUSION. Based on the findings of the study, the following conclusion were inferred.
1.Majority of the students encountered problems in terms of excessive noise.
2.Classroom Noise Pollution effects brought so much negativity towards on the learning habits of the
students.
3.The impact of noise generated may bring negative effects which is often experienced by the students.
RHYL – RECOMMENDATIONS. Based on the conclusions drawn, researchers hereby recommend the
following:
1.Proposed improvements to reduce the noise are as follows:
a.The barriers around the school area are recommended
b.The reposition of the classroom window that faced the source of the noise and replacement of the
window materials with acoustic material
c.Material selection for the classroom wall by using acoustic material to reduce the noise at the class.
2.The school administrator together with the teacher must implement a policy related to Classroom
Noise Pollution that would minimize excessive noises around the school area.
3.For future researchers, it is hereby recommended by the results to conduct similar study which
includes different year levels.
4.More trainings, symposiums and seminars for teacher so that they will be more aware and
knowledgeable enough how to manage the situation.
ALL – at this time we are now done with our final dense, thank you for listening.
