What is a circumcision?

A circumcision is a surgical procedure that removes the foreskin (the loose tissue) covering the glans (rounded tip) of the penis. Circumcision may be performed for religious or cultural reasons, or for health reasons. Newborn circumcision is thought to diminish the risk for cancer of the penis and lower the risk for cancer of the cervix in sexual partners. It is also believed to decrease the risk of urinary tract infections in infants and lower the risk of certain sexually transmitted diseases, especially HIV. Plastibell The plastic bell is placed over the glans of the penis and the foreskin is pulled over the outside of the bell. After the foreskin is tied with string, all tissue above the string is cut off with scissors, and the handle is then snapped off. A cholecystectomy is the surgical removal of the gallbladder. Historically, surgeons performed this via the open technique through a 6- to 7-inch incision. Since the 1980s, this has changed to the laparascopic technique in which surgeons use about four small incisions, less than 1/2 inch each, to insert a camera and thin instruments to perform the surgery. The instruments used are specially designed for laparoscopic surgery. Read more: http://www.livestrong.com/article/173917-cholecystectomy-surgical-instruments/#ixzz1lyj68l88
