Lesson plan

Teacher: Ms. Shimhanda Grade: 12 Date: 8-9 Feb 2024

SUBJECT: Physics
THEME AND TOPIC: Kinematics
TEACHING AIDS AND RESOURCES TO BE USED: Chalkboard, Syllabus,
worksheet, Textbook and Handouts.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Learners will

understand the concepts distance, displacement, speed, velocity and acceleration, including
equations of motion
BASIC COMPETENCIES (Refer to the Syllabus): Learners should be able to
define and use distance, displacement, speed, velocity and acceleration
- distance as a measure of how far an object travels along a particular path (without considering
direction)
- displacement as a vector which has a magnitude equal to the shortest distance between the
initial and final points and a direction from the initial to the final point
- speed as a rate of change of distance
- instantaneous velocity as a ‘rate of change of displacement’ or speed in a given direction
- average velocity as the total displacement divided by the total time taken
- acceleration as the rate of change of velocity
PRESENTATION OF THE LESSON

1. MONITORING OF HOMEWORK DONE: Mark and sign the books.

2. AN APPROPRIATE SHORT INTRODUCTION: State the topic, the lesson objectives, define
keywords and do a recap on last year’s general knowledge on topic.
3. PRESENTATION OF SUBJECT CONTENT AND LEARNING TASKS
