PROFESSIONAL STATEMENT FOR NURSE EDUCATOR PROGRAM

The nursing education programs are very important in many aspects of impacting the future nurses in the healthcare field. The professional nursing educational programs are more important than most nursing professionals acknowledge. I have decided to proceed in Masters in Nurse Educators Program, in relations to help educate the nursing students in the many areas and sectors that must be navigated in order to excel as a nurse. I have been a registered nurse for eleven years, and I have many areas of experience in nursing. I have experience in cardiology, family medicine, orthopaedic, psychiatric and medical-surgical nursing. I believe these experiences will help instill my expertise to educate and impact the future nurses of tomorrow. My professional goals are to complete the masters program in nursing education and proceed to teach the future nurses of tomorrow. I believe this nursing program at Western Carolina University can help educate myself in many different aspects of information-seeking abilities, critical and analytical thinking, professional educational knowledge and skills to help make a difference in educating students in the nursing programs. I would like the opportunity to make a difference in educating the future nurses and make an impact in the nursing educational system.

My personal academic completion of going back to school and completing my BSN in nursing was very satisfying for me. I graduated from Appalachian State University last year. I believe in proceeding and completing my goal in nurse educator program at your university. I proceeded to become a legal nurse consultant recently, and I find the work very interesting in a different aspect of the healthcare field. The involvement of the legal aspects of nursing and other healthcare related fields can be very complex when related to the law. I believe that the experience I have in the varied different areas of nursing will impact the educational teaching experience that I can deliver to the nursing students of the future. The leadership roles in nursing are very essential and important, especially in the nursing field. The responsibilities need to include good communication skills, investigate and research options and comprehend the situation at hand. I have experience in charge nursing on the hospital floor and had to comprehend different situations involving staffing, procedures and discipline at the hospital. I am very patient, very organized and a good listener, which I think is very important aspects in leadership roles. I believe I need improvement in time and stress management involving leadership roles. Sometimes, it can be very stressful in different situations involving the nurses in your area of expertise. The academic aspect I need improvement in is more classes involving educational and

teaching skills. I always look forward to the student nurses coming to our floor, and having the experience in being a detrimental influence on these students. I would like the best educational experience for proceeding with nurse educator program, and become an exceptional nurse educational instructor. There is a problem in the shortage of nurses in this country today, and will become increasing more detrimental in the future, if not resolved. One of the reasons, I believe, is the shortage of nurse educators in many of community colleges. The nursing education programs are critically necessary in order to educate the nursing student in many areas and sectors that must be navigated in order to excel in the problem of the nursing shortage. I believe many nurses have the problem of the cost of programs in the masters of nurse educators. The potential solution could be more grants, scholarships and other financial programs to alleviate this problem. There would be more nurses proceeding with their masters, if more financial programs were available for nurses. The future of nursing is changing in so many ways. I believe we need to educate our future student nurses in the many sectors of healthcare, business and society; therefore, making education programs for the nursing professionals a very critical factor in their career success and effective nursing practice.
