Hello Dylan Thank you to be here and to accept to help me.
I was wondering how students feel when they walk in classroom what are the expectations
for each student. To answer these questions, I’m considering how I set up the physical layout
of the room that physical layout impacts the broader aspects of student learning. So, I hope
you help me to found how to improve my classroom physical environment and how the
physical materials are going to be set up in my room.
Indeed, I would like to challenge you on 4 very specific elements.
First, I would like to talk about the question of the choice of furniture given the important
place that tables and chairs take in my class. How to arrange the furniture and consequently
the pupils in the classroom space? I know there are many possibilities with the room
arrangement, but each layout can subtly encourage different types of behaviours. And I
don’t know which is the better for my discipline and my method of teaching.
Then, I'll need to consider my own location in relation to my students where do I see myself
occupying most of my time while interacting with students where is the best place for my
own desk and supplies?
Next, I’m considering that I will need additional resources my classroom might require for
example I will want some storage cabinets computer stations tables toys bookshelves, where
will these be in relation to the students’ desks?
And finally, I think that wall decorations are a crucial but like you see, they are overlooked
part of my classrooms physical space. So, I should consider what decorations to include it. I
don’t know which student works and what inspirational posters or quotations students
would like. I hope you help me to choose decorations which could reinforce learning and
other ways to maximise the visual impact of the learning environment.
