STAR Worksheet

The STAR method is an acknowledged means of responding to interview

questions effectively. Use the STAR method to respond to five common
behavioral questions used in interviews.

Example (from the Responding to Questions video)

How do you normally approach problems? Can you share your process?

Situation A project I was working was well behind schedule.

Task I was asked to analyze the problems and develop potential

solutions.

Action I took a process approach: (Note: Your action should address

the question.)
1. I took time to review schedules, identify the problem,
and searched for root causes.
2. I collaborated with the team to identify the true root
causes for delays.
3. We developed solutions to fast track some activities
and crash others using available resources.

Result In the end, the solution yielded results. We were able to

compress the project schedule by three-weeks, overcome
prior delays, and finish on-time.
