My night at the awards
Last Saturday night was probably the best
night of my life. It was the British Film
Awards. Every year the British public
choose the winners of the awards for best
actor, best actress, best director, and lots
more. It’s a very exciting evening and
nobody knows the winners before the
ceremony. People from the film industry
come to London from all over the world,
especially the USA. Photographers take
pictures of women wearing beautiful
dresses – Angelina Jolie looked very
beautiful – and reporters interview some
of the stars.
The evening of the awards starts with a
good dinner and some entertainment.
This year it was a dance group called
Streetwise. They were excellent. After
that, a well-known person goes on stage

This year I was very lucky and got the
award for best actor for my part in the
film Dark Ages. I’ve never won an award
before and it was a big surprise. Today I’d
like to thank all the people who voted for
me. I also want to thank director Charles
Davies for choosing me for the part.
Charles, you’re a great director and a
good friend – thank you. I’d also like to
take this opportunity to encourage young
actors to follow their dreams. Acting is a
difficult profession, but you can become
successful. Look at me. I’m so lucky. It’s
wonderful to get up in the morning and
do a job that I love. And people pay me
for doing it! And they’ve given me an
award! Yes, acting is a good life, but right
now I’m just looking forward to a relaxing
holiday far from the cameras!
