SERVO MOTOR

A servo motor is a specialized type of electric motor that provides precise control of
angular or linear position, velocity, and acceleration. It consists of a motor coupled with a sensor
for position feedback, usually controlled by a dedicated servo controller. Servo motors are widely
used in applications that require high accuracy and efficiency, such as robotics, CNC machinery,
and automation systems. They operate by receiving a control signal that determines their
position, speed, or torque, adjusting accordingly to maintain precision.

Types of Servo Motors:

AC Servo Motors – Known for their high efficiency, reliability, and ability to handle high
torque at high speeds.
DC Servo Motors – Easier to control but typically less efficient than AC servo motors.
They are often used in smaller applications.
Brushless Servo Motors – Require less maintenance and offer better performance and
longevity compared to brushed motors.
Brushed Servo Motors – Simpler in design but prone to wear and tear due to the
presence of brushes.
Applications of Servo Motors:
Robotics – Used for precise movement control in robotic arms and automated systems.
CNC Machines – Helps in positioning tools accurately in machining operations.
Industrial Automation – Common in conveyor systems and packaging machines.
Drones & Aerospace – Used for controlling flight surfaces and stabilizing camera
gimbals.
Medical Equipment – Plays a role in devices like prosthetics and surgical robots.
Servo motors are preferred in industries where precision, speed, and efficiency are
critical. Their ability to provide real-time feedback and maintain desired performance makes
them an essential component in modern technological advancements.
