Interesting Facts
The classic book, Charlotte's Web, published in 1952, was inspired by E.B. White's
own farm in Somerset County, Maine, which he owned in the town of Blue Hill.
The setting for the original story is a fictional farm in Somerset Country, Maine, with
visits to the Arable family's house and the county fair also serving as key settings.
Zuckerman's Farm: This is the main setting, where Wilbur
the pig lives and where much of the story unfolds.
Arable's House: Fern Arable, who saves Wilbur from being
killed, lives here, and Wilbur is initially kept as a pet.
County Fair: The animals travel to the fair, which is a
significant event in the story.
Time Period: The story is set between 1930 and 1950
