The Title of our activity for today is " Attract Me or Not!"

Activity 1
Attract Me or Not!

I. Problem: Describe how magnets are made and the

magnetic field around it

II. Materials Needed:

*plastic *comb *glass
ruler
*tin can *plastic *paper clips
spoon
*match *nails *coins
box
*thumb *pencil *plastic cap of
tacks bottle
*scissors *needles *magnets

III. Procedure:
1. Bring each material, one by one close to the magnet.
2. Observe if each material is attracted by the magnet or not.
3. Record your observations in the chart below:

C. EXPLAIN Presentation of outputs (every group)

D. ELABORATE 1. What materials are attracted by magnets?
2. What materials are not attracted?
3. What are the materials attracted by magnets made of?
4. What do you think are magnets made of?

BACKGROUND INFORMATION/ TO BE DISCUSSED BY THE

TEACHER.
A magnet is an object that is made of materials that create a
magnetic field.
Magnets have at least one north pole and one south pole.
- Magnets are present in most electronic devices in fact anything that
has motor use magnets example, television, computer, refrigerator and
microwave oven.
In television, magnet are used to guide electrons to that precise any
tiny spot.
In refrigerator, magnet are used to keep refrigerator door closed.
In microwave oven magnet used to guide electrons to heat foods.
In computer, magnet are used to store information.
Magnets attract or pull objects, made with iron, paper clips scissors,
screw, and bolts are few common everyday objects that are magnetic.
Magnetic materials are those which are attracted to a magnet. In
other hand a magnet will not attract paper rubber wood or plastic.
Most of the magnet you see around you are man-made, since they
weren't originally magnetic they lose their magnetic characteristic
over time for example heating them or hammering.
Magnetism is the force exerted by magnets when they attract or repel
each other.
It is not true that magnet will attract any kind of metal. For example
aluminum cans, iron metal but do not contain iron therefore they are
not magnetic. Steel is a metal that made of iron so still objects like
tools and silverware are usually magnetic.
A space or region around a magnet in which a force is experienced by
magnetic pole is called magnetic field.
Notes: Magnets are always bipolar in nature they have two poles the
north and the south even if one breaks the magnet will still have two
poles.

Application:
A. List down 5 materials attracted by magnets.
B. A boy wants to separate the iron nails which were mixed with his
toy marbles.

How are you going to help the boy to separate the iron nail from the
marbles? Which do you think will he use? Why?

Generalization:
Describe how magnets are made and the magnetic field around it.

E. EVALUATE The following are statement that describe about magnets. Write
TRUE if the statement is correct. If the statement is false, change the
underlined word to make it correct.
_________ 1. A magnetic material or substance is attracted by a
magnet.
_________ 2. Gravitational pull is the force or power created by
magnets.
_________ 3. Magnets can be natural or artificial/man-made.
_________ 4. Plastics can be attracted by magnets.
_________ 5. The space around the magnet where its force is
extended is called magnetic field.

Agreement / Please bring the following tomorrow:

Remediation/ (By group)
Enrichment
Thin glass sheet
Iron fillings
Two bar magnets
Pencil and paper for illustration
Magnetic compass

V. REMARKS
(Indicate special
cases including but
not limited to
continuation of
lesson plan to the
following day in
case of re-teaching
or lack of time,
transfer of lesson to
the following day, in
cases of class
suspension, etc.)
VI. REFECTI
ON
(Reflect on your
teaching and assess
yourself as a
teacher. Think about
your students’/
pupils’ progress.
What works? What
else needs to be
done to help the
students learn?
Identify what help
your instructional
supervisors can
provide for you, so
when you meet
them, you can ask
them relevant
questions. Indicate
below whichever
is/are appropriate.)
VII. OTHERS

learners who
earned 80%
on the
formative
assessment.
B. No. of
learners who
require
additional
activities for
remediation.
C. Did the
remedial
lessons
work? No.
of learners
who have

with the
lesson.
D. No. of
learners who
continue to
require
remediation.
E. Which of

which my
principal or
supervisor
can help me
solve?
G. What
