❖​Botanical name- Ocimum tenuiflorum


❖​Family -Lamiaceae
❖​Synonyms - Sursa, Gramya, Tulasi, Bhootaghani, Bahumanjari
❖​Morphology-
(A) .General- Erect growth form, highly branched, sub-shrub, and
aromatic.
(B)Seed- Small, black, and have a nutty flavor.
(C).Stem- Four-sided, purplish, and hairy, Sometimes tinged with
purple, Somewhat woody at the base
(D).Leaves: Broadly elliptical, with a slightly toothed margin,
Green or purple, Pubescent (densely covered in short hairs), Crushed
leaves emit a musky, slightly minty fragrance.
(E).Flowers- Tubular and 2-lipped, Pink or white, Arranged in pairs
along a spike-like, racemose inflorescence
(F).Flowering season- November- january
(G).Fruits-Composed of 4 tiny, one-seeded nutlets,
Brownish-reddish-yellow and globose-subglobose
