1.

Present Simple
Form:
 Positive: Subject + base verb (+s/es for he/she/it)
o I work. / She works.

 Negative: Subject + do/does not + base verb


o I don’t work. / She doesn’t work.

 Question: Do/Does + subject + base verb?


o Do you work? / Does she work?

Usage:
✅ General truths and facts (The sun rises in the east.)
✅ Habits and routines (I go to school every day.)
✅ Timetables and schedules (The train leaves at 8 AM.)

2. Past Simple
Form:
 Positive: Subject + past verb (regular: -ed, irregular: second form)
o I visited my grandma. / She went to the park.

 Negative: Subject + did not (didn’t) + base verb


o I didn’t visit my grandma.

 Question: Did + subject + base verb?


o Did you visit your grandma?

Usage:
✅ Completed actions in the past (I met him yesterday.)
✅ Past habits (When I was a child, I played outside a lot.)
✅ A sequence of past events (He woke up, got dressed, and left.)

3. Present Continuous
Form:
 Positive: Subject + am/is/are + verb-ing
o I am studying. / She is reading.

 Negative: Subject + am/is/are + not + verb-ing


o I am not studying.

 Question: Am/Is/Are + subject + verb-ing?


o Is she reading?

Usage:
✅ Actions happening now (She is talking on the phone.)
✅ Temporary actions (I’m staying with my friend this week.)
✅ Future plans (We are traveling to Paris next month.)

4. Past Continuous
Form:
 Positive: Subject + was/were + verb-ing
o I was watching TV. / They were playing.

 Negative: Subject + was/were not + verb-ing


o I wasn’t watching TV.

 Question: Was/Were + subject + verb-ing?


o Were they playing?

Usage:
✅ Actions in progress at a specific time in the past (At 5 PM, I was studying.)
✅ Two actions happening at the same time (She was cooking while he was
reading.)
✅ Interrupted actions (I was sleeping when the phone rang.)

5. Future Simple
Form:
 Positive: Subject + will + base verb
o I will call you.

 Negative: Subject + will not (won’t) + base verb


o I won’t call you.

 Question: Will + subject + base verb?


o Will you call me?

Usage:
✅ Predictions (It will rain tomorrow.)
✅ Spontaneous decisions (I’ll help you with that.)
✅ Promises and offers (I will always love you.)

6. Present Perfect
Form:
 Positive: Subject + have/has + past participle (3rd form)
o I have seen that movie. / She has finished her homework.

 Negative: Subject + have/has not + past participle


o I haven’t seen that movie.

 Question: Have/Has + subject + past participle?


o Have you seen that movie?

Usage:
✅ Actions that happened at an unspecified time (I have visited Paris.)
✅ Actions that started in the past and continue now (She has lived here for 10
years.)
✅ Experiences (I have never tried sushi.)
