Back Pain and Constipation How to Forget about Both of Them

Constipation http://www.colontoxcleanse.com/back-pain-constipation is a condition in which bowel evacuations occur infrequently, or in which the feces are hard and small or where passage of feces causes difficulty or pain. The frequency of bowel evacuation varies considerably from one person to another and what is normal cannot be precisely defined. Constipation which occurs in an individual who previously had normal, regular bowel movements may be an indication of intestinal disease. Recurrent, or longstanding constipation, is usually treated by increasing dietary fiber, taking laxatives, or with enemas. Fecal impaction(hard stools) is the end result of chronic constipation common in elderly, senile patients.

Complications

The complications of constipation include hypertension, fecal impaction, hemorrhoids, fissures, and mega colon (enlargement of the colon). Increased arterial pressure can occur with defecation. Straining to eliminate a stool, which results in the Valsalva maneuver ( forcibly exhaling with the glottis closed), can dramatically raise arterial blood pressure. During active straining, the flow of venous blood in the chest is temporarily impeded because of increase intra-thoracic pressure. This pressure tends to collapse the large veins in the chest. The arterial vessels and the ventricles receives less blood, and consequently less is delivered by the systolic contractions of the left ventricle. The cardiac output is decreased, and there is a transient drop in arterial pressure. Almost immediately after this period 1

of hypo-tension, a rise in arterial pressure occurs. This elevation in blood pressure may be high enough to rupture a major artery in the brain or elsewhere.

Fecal impaction occurs when an accumulated mass of dry feces cannot be expelled. This can result in pressure being placed on the colonic mucosa that results in ulcer formation, and frequently may cause seepage of liquid stools.

Hemorrhoids and anal fissures can develop as a result of perennial vascular congestion caused by straining. Anal fissures may be produced by the passage of the hard stool through the anus, tearing the lining of the anal canal. Mega-colon is a dilated colon that stretches due to the size of the feces that are attempting to pass through it. Symptoms include constipation, liquid fecal incontinence, and abdominal distention. Mega-colon can lead to perforation of the bowel.

Constipation is common in western populations due to the diet that they consume. Just about everybody has experienced constipation at least once in their lives. Most of these people are fortunate enough to have a type of constipation that is not permanent. For a small portion of the population this problem is reoccurring. For them the discomfort and pain reach levels that will alter their lives and force them to seek relief.

Back pain is frequently developed as a consequence of constipation. The lower back is located right next to the large intestine, as a result, it takes on some of the pressure that is produced by a constipated bowel. Back ache and constipation are difficult to distinguish when they both occur at the same time. It is 2

hard to tell which was caused by what. New research shows that frequently, calls to doctors for back pain and constipation follow such common complaints as colds and influenza. It is currently thought, that constipation can cause a continuous ache in the lower back, and further studies have confirmed a link between constipation frequency and the occurrence of lower back pain.

Back soreness, due to constipation, is more common than most would think and it appears that the cause is not simply because of the strain on the large intestine. When a person has multiple bowel movements that require a lot of straining, stress develops that adds to, and complicates the problem. Children are

especially susceptible to constipation because there organs are still developing and growing. When children complain of soreness in the back , doctors frequently diagnosis that constipation is the cause of the soreness.

If you want to confirm that your back ache is due to constipation, see if you have some of the following symptoms. If you have to strain in order to defecate, over the counter constipation products fail to relieve the problem, and your back pain increases while lying down, you should seek a physicians advice in seeking remedies for your constipation.

There are many ways to control constipation and the back ache that frequently comes with it. There are analgesics, laxatives, vitamins that help digestion and enemas that can provide relief. Changing your diet to one high in fiber can be a major step in controlling your constipation. Once you have completely cleansed your colon, you should find that your lower back ache goes 3

away and you will feel much healthier and have renewed energy. Back pain and constipation are controllable, and with the right steps taken, you can forget about both of them.
