A Flower for Mourning

By Senior Reporter, Li Chun Hei 4Y and Junior Reporter, Ben Chan 1Y
Sunday after November 11, Remembrance Day is commemorated in front of the former Legislative Council building in Central. Father Naylor has attended the ceremony every year since 1970. He represents the Catholic Church and there are representatives from other religions Confucianism, Muslim, Hinduism. They pray for the soldiers. They are heroic and loyal, as they died defending their country, Father Naylor noted. Father Naylor has witnessed the changes over the past 40 years. In 1970, only British troops - their army, navy and air force participated in the ceremony. At that time, the ceremony was held to remember the British who died in the war and only Catholic and Christian representatives were invited to give prayers. As time passed, more parties joined in the ceremony, but there were fewer and fewer veterans.

Reporter: I am a form one student, so I dont know much about the history of the Wah Yan College Tennis Team, can you tell me? Ernest: Sure. I am an old boy from Wah Yan College, and I was a member of the tennis team. In the 1970s, we were named the champions for 10 consecutive years. At that time, the coach of the school tennis team was Fr. Finneran. He was kind and taught the team a great number of skills. Unfortunately, Fr. Finneran passed away in 1989 and the tennis team stopped improving after that. In recent years, I am glad to pick up the job. We have set up the Father Finneran Memorial Foundation and it supports the activities of the school tennis Hong Kong. Last but not least, Sky Post and Sharp Daily are two new free newspapers launched just half a year ago. However, the latter one has been restricted in many schools, including Wah Yan, because it contains explicit materials. In October, we interviewed four students on our campus and they all have different opinions. I prefer free newspapers because in addition to being free, they are shorter and more to the point, said Ronald Chiu from 3W. I like AM730 because it is distributed very early in the morning. Every time I go to school, I can just go to the distribution center, grab a free newspaper and get up-to-date. Ronald added that he sometimes takes more than one free newspaper as

The use of the poppy in 1920 was inspired by the poem In Flanders Fields, written by Canadian Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae in 1915 after witnessing his friend Lieutenant Alexis Helmers death. Its opening lines refer to the many poppies that were the first flowers to sprout in the churned-up earth of soldiers graves in Flanders, a region of Europe that overlies parts of Belgium and France.

I usually read Apple Daily. I have read free newspapers before. I prefer to buy and read a newspaper because there is more information and I can learn more words, Franco Yeung, from 1S, said. I think that the content in the free newspapers is too little. If I want to know more information or what has happened in the world, I would rather buy and read a news paper so that I can obtain more information, Tony Tsang, from 3W, said. It depends quite a lot. I can grab free newspapers easily and they are more accessible. If I dont have much time, I take a free newspaper, Lai Huen Lang from 4J said. We also found that all students have developed a good habit of putting newspapers in the recycling bins after reading them.

a good thing that the corridor was eerily silent. On one hand, I wanted to do this secretly; but if anything went wrong, there would be no help. Although it was a relatively warm spring afternoon, the corridor was chilly. A breeze blew into my face, and my hair stood up in fear. The corridor was dimly lit by overhead lights, and many of them were blinking intermittently. I couldnt stop thinking that the next time a bright light came on, I would see that something had appeared. Taking a deep breath to give myself the last bit of confidence, I walked slowly along the corridor, until I was standing in front of a corrugated door. There was a sign that read: LADIES. It was the ladies toilet. Grimly, I opened the door and went in. I had heard the rumour the first day I came to this school.

absence of urinals and the disgusting smell. On the left hand side was a row of sinks and mirrors hanging on the walls, and on the right hand side were the stalls. It was still lunch time so most students were eating out, but there was still a chance that a girl might come in unexpectedly. I had to get moving now. Slowly, I checked the stalls one by one, and each time my heart pounded when I gently pushed the doors, only to see that nothing was inside. The last one was the most threatening of all; I was preparing to run for my life as the door swung open, and revealed an empty stall. I sighed with relief. Just at the same moment, I heard footsteps approaching the door. A chill ran down my spine. It was already too late to leave, so I had no choice. I entered one of the stalls and locked myself inside. The door swung open. I tried to lower the sound of my gasping, and begun. The witch immediately ordered her army of monsters to kill Alex and started aiming deadly spells at him. Alex ran straight into the town hall. He was running for his life, as fast as his legs could carry him. He dodged every monster on his way but eventually he reached the roof where there was nowhere to hide, nowhere to run. And so the monsters began closing in. Alex struggled to find an exit, to no avail. He was slowly pushed towards the edge of the building. Alex dodged a swipe from a troll and slipped over the railing. His school uniform was torn, his arms were bleeding. He held onto the railing and suspended in the air, only an inch to his death. He felt his fingers slowly slipping. Below him was the sea, which had become a pit of fire. He glanced at the witch above him, cackling and grinning a triumphantly. He thought, 'Since I am going to die anyway, I'd better make to stop my teeth from chattering. Then I saw a pair of shoes at the bottom of the stall door. Is there anyone inside? a girl asked. I kept silent. The next second, I nearly screamed when the girl lowered her body and tried to peek inside the stall. Quickly, I withdrew my legs up onto the toilet bowl. Then she straightened herself up and knocked on the door, each time more urgently. Finally, I could not help myself, Go away! Leave me alone! The girl suddenly screamed and rushed out of the toilet. I was free at last. After a minute I left the toilet, leaving my nightmare behind. It was a relief that no one had learnt of my presence, and I had proven that there were no ghosts in the ladies toilet. The next thing I knew, the last toilet was closed. I wondered why.

books, but Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens is the best one yet. I recommend it to all of you. It starts with Oliver Twist, an orphan who lives in a workhouse where the owner, Mr Bumble hates children very much, and forces them to obey his orders. He gives the children very little food, just enough so that they do not die of starvation. One day at lunch, Oliver says Please sir, I want some more (food). Mr Bumble, with his eyes all bloodshot, is so furious that he immediately sells Oliver as an apprentice, for only five pounds. Oliver becomes the apprentice to the gravedigger, Sowberry, whose son always makes fun of him. Unable to tolerate Sowberrys sons taunts anymore, he walks to London where he befriends Artful Dodger, a pickpocket, and Fagin, who teaches street urchins to become pickpockets. And at last, he meets Bill Sikes, a terrifying man who keeps an equally terrifying bulldog. Bill is the worst of them, but he has a girlfriend, Nancy, who is kind-hearted, and likes Oliver. The ending is excellent, but it is a really tragic story. You will really feel sympathy for Oliver in the dark slums of London, with terrifying street gangs and sneaky pickpockets at every corner. When I first read this book, there were several parts in the story which almost made me weep. Oliver Twist is truly one of the best books written by Charles Dickens. I recommend it to everyone in Wah Yan Kowloon.

the roof of the town hall, the monsters were closing in. Alex was helplessly dangling from the railings. He finally decided to jump. A few hours ago, Alex was in his classroom studying for his exam when the sky suddenly turned purple. The grass outside withered and cracks appeared in the roads. The sun was snuffed out and darkness filled the city. Something was wrong. People rushed out to the streets to find out what was happening. A lightning bolt abruptly flashed from the sky and a piercing high voice crackled like the lightning, 'Your city is MINE.' The pedestrians trembled with fear and panicked. Alex quickly turned on his mobile phone for the latest news. 'Monster Attacks City, the headlines said. According to the news article, the mayor had announced that he had allowed monsters from an unknown world to enter the city.

It was said that there had been seven ladies toilets when the school was first built. However, the school had closed them one by one, until only one was left. Girls were of course furious about that, but they all knew the rumour as clearly as we boys did. There were ghosts in the toilets. All the witnesses said they had heard a soft murmuring inside the locked stalls. When they had checked under the doors, there was nothing inside. Some had even tried to knock on the doors, only to hear the same sentence every time: Go away. Leave me alone. The remaining toilet was still free of ghost stories, but it would not be long. Strangely, the same thing had never happened in the gentlemens toilets. That was when I decided to sneak into the ladies to discover the truth. Behind the door was basically the same setting as the gentlemens, except for the The mayor was off his rocker. Alex glanced at the photograph of the mayor and saw something was wrong--the mayor's eyes were purple and emotionless, as if the mayor were possessed in some kind of way. Alex sprinted out to the sidewalk and was shocked to see that there were monsters like trolls, vampires, zombies, monsters from fairy tales slicing through people and turning them into monsters. He spotted a witch on a broomstick gliding down from the sky. She flew to the town hall and Alex followed her. The witch glided up to the mayors office and started conjuring spells on the mayor. His whole body was paralysed and he fell over. The witch let out an ear-splitting laugh. 'So she is the villain and the voice from the sky.' Alex thought. He peered at a remote that was on her belt; she kept pressing it once in a while. Alex took a deep breath, he grabbed it, and sprinted up the stairs, and the chase had

it quick.' He let go. At the last moment, Alex randomly pressed a button on the witchs remote, and dropped into the sea with a mighty splash. It had the icy chill of death. Alex woke up to find that, miraculously, he was still alive, lying on a bed in a hospital. The doctor was relieved to see him breathing. The mayor was anxiously waiting to see him. He went in and congratulated Alex, 'You are the hero of our city. Thanks to you, our city is rid of monsters.' Alex suddenly realized that the button had sent everything back to normal, so the 'icy chill of death' was really the icy water. The other people had no memory of the events. The mayor regained his memory because he still had the sense of thought when he was controlled, and the secret was now kept between Alex and the mayor. The mayor gave him a medal and left. After a few days, Alex was back to studying for his exams.

Andrew had the sense not to scream, as it may hear him, so he chucked a stone behind the zombie, hoping it would advance toward the sound instead of him. But instead, he aroused another wave of zombies. He swore silently and

How to Write a Good Short Story

By Junior Editor-in-Chief, Ronald Chiu 3W
Writing a good fiction story is not as hard as most people think. It just requires mastering some basic techniques. Here are some tips for writing a good fiction story. 1. Be innovative! You should try to use your own ideas in creating a good fiction story rather than recycling from a story you have read. 2. Depending on the type of story you are writing, you might try to be realistic. Stories with lots of action and unrealistic plot twists may not appeal to the reader. 3. Think carefully about the setting. Before starting to write, you should think about a suitable setting for your story depending on its type. For example, a horror story would typically take place in a graveyard or a haunted mansion, a murder story would take place in a house in a quiet countryside. The setting affects the events in a story. 4. Try to center your story around a few main characters. Having too many characters may be confusing for the reader. If you concentrate on a few characters only, youll be able to develop them better and make them more dynamic. To write a good fiction story, youll have to develop the personality and traits of the main characters. 5. Never use difficult words

knees helplessly and waited for the last impact on his head, but the only thing that fell on his head was an icy flow of water. The next thing Andrew knew was that there were firemen splashing through the ruins. His sister was struggling to push away the obstacle that kept her from getting to Andrew. This was his chance to escape. He dashed out to Highway 43, stepping over the remains of zombies. His sister abruptly clambered on to him. 1,210, KO! Andrew thought. As his sister took her last blow, Andrew suddenly saw emotion in those crimson picked up a table leg, ready to protect himself. Andrew knew that he was as good as dead, as he didnt know how to kill something that was already dead, then an idea hit him. He began whacking the battered door with his table leg, hoping to open it up again, while the zombies, sensing what he was trying to achieve, advanced as quickly as they could (though no faster than a crawling baby). Andrew managed to make a hole and he tried to go through it; he made it in the nick of time. He had just gotten out of the hole when the zombies arrived in his previous spot. One made a wild grab and Andrew used the table leg to whack

eyes. All the marching zombies fell. Her pale face flooded with color, and she was human again. Zombies were transforming back into humans and they started waking up, alert. Andrew saw this occasion, and was delighted to have his sister back, but quickly realized that she wouldnt make it. He sobbed and was struck for a while, but he finally faced the truth. He slowly dug a hole, picked up his sisters corpse, and placed her in it. His last words were, At least she died as a human. And he walked away.

it. He sprinted to his car and started driving away as fast as he could. One thing he didnt notice was that a zombie had attached itself to his car, so when Andrew took a large gulp of air to calm himself down, the zombie cracked the side window and began climbing in! Andrew screamed and yelled in horror and drove the car in zigzag patterns so that the zombie would fall off. Suddenly, he noticed that he was driving into oncoming traffic; he tried to stop but he failed. Crash! A car crashed into Andrews car, squashing the zombie and knocking Andrew out. At least Andrew was safe from the zombies, for now.

just for the sake of using them. In a good fiction story, you should choose words that you think fit, not just difficult words you think would impress the reader. You must pay attention to the exact wording. Sometimes, you may come across two words with the same meaning. In different contexts, the meaning is slightly different. For example, in a sentence like David always had fights with the other boys when he was young, a writer might think of using the word battles to replace fights to make the sentence more dramatic. The two words have a similar meaning, yet it would be better to simply use fights because it fits in better with the sentence. 6. Read more. You have to build a large vocabulary in order to express yourself clearly and describe the scenes in your story vividly. You can learn from different writers. You can look at their writing styles and the plot devices they use. 7. Re-read your story several times to correct grammatical mistakes and improve the wording. Look for logical gaps in the story. The characters actions and the plot must be logical. Anyone can write a good fiction story. Practice makes perfect!

Near the end of the event, Principal Dr Tan, Father Naylor, Mr Ho, form six student Berry Chow, and several other students lined up on the grass beside the track, where a 4x400m relay was taking place, and led the spectators in the new school cheerleading song. The tune is from the familiar song - We Will Rock You by Queen, and everyone in the stadium started to follow after the leading team finished a few lines at the beginning. We will, we will rock you. We are, we are Wah Yan, they sang together. The lyrics of the cheering song were written by Dr Tan and he said it took him one hour and a half to write. It was during a fieldtrip with a form five class after the inter-school swimming championship when I heard our students sing other schools cheerleading songs. Then I thought we should have our own song, said Dr Tan. He also said that Wah Yan students are talented in music so he hopes this song would inspire students to write songs in the future.

I think the concert was quite average, said Frank Cheung from 1J who is a member of the junior choir, I enjoyed most of the performances, but some of them were too loud. I dont really like that. I think my performance in the choir today is quite good, because I tried everything that can make my performance better. This concert was relatively successful. members of Squadron 403 participated in Operation Falcona 25 minute helicopter ride around Hong Kong Island. Students met in Sung Wong Toi Park, adjacent to the old Kai Tak Airport in Kowloon Bay. Later, the instructor introduced us to a pilot officer, who would be flying us in the helicopter. We were separated into groups of three, as there are three seats in the helicopter - one is next to the pilot, which has the best view, while the other two are behind the pilot. The lightest and shortest cadets went first, as the helicopter had be loaded to the brim with fuel, so it would be more difficult if the helicopter carries heavy weight in the first few flights. Students were also instructed on how to use the microphones and speakers to communicate with one another, and how to use lifejackets in case the helicopter ended up in the water. We were warned not to step on the helicopters skids or get near the tail rotors in order not to be hacked into pieces. At last, it was our turn. As soon as the helicopter left the ground, we saw the magnificent structure of the

The mid-levels seemed to be clouded by mist, and then we flew past the construction site of the former Kai Tak Airport before we landed. It was the first time I could choose Recruit Cadets, those form one students, to come as a reward for their leadership. mous city San Francisco, I was amazed by the blue sky. I was shocked when I stepped out of the terminal. It was so cold! The temperature outside was only about 14 degrees Celsius in summer. Despite the cold, I was extremely excited, because it was my first time in San Francisco. San Franciscos landmark is the Golden Gate Bridge, a wonderful example of bridge engineering at the mouth of San Francisco Bay Area. It is evident that the bridge is very safe as it has withstood seventy years of earthquakes. However, when you really get to walk on the bridge, you will be terrified by the strong winds. Many people gave up in the very middle of the bridge and walked back. They did not realize that a better view of the city could be seen from the other side. Another renowned feature

of San Francisco is the multicultural and the multiracial environment of the city. In this small city, it is not difficult to find the roots of the early Chinese settlements near Sacramento Street and the Italian immigrants in Washington Square. Other Asian Cultures, such as Japanese and Indian cultures, can also be found. There are lots of delicious dishes available in the city. You can walk into any restaurant and taste wonderful food. Food is never expensive yet tastes excellent because of the fresh ingredients. The first meal I had was a traditional Cantonese dinner. I had barbecued pork and rice and the pork tasted marvellous. My next meal was in the Italian district where I tried the Italian dishes with garlic. The restaurant was called the Stinking Rose. I had pizza and pasta. The Powell-Hyde line is the most famous and crowded cable car line because Fishermans Wharf can be reached by this line. To avoid the crowd, you may get on the Powell-Mason Line instead. However, you need to do some walking to get to the Wharf. An alternative would probably be to walk around Union Square and do some shopping. San Francisco is seldom a busy city, unlike Hong Kong. It is slow-paced and it is very relaxing to walk around the city, looking at your surroundings. Some travellers like to walk by the coast of San Francisco Bay. On the beach, I heard the gentle sound of waves lapping; I smelt the scent of water; I felt the caress of the breeze; I saw fish congregate in changing shapes, seagulls winged their way across the bay, and striations of colours reflected off the sea. Amid the scorching heat, I enjoyed the coolness as I swam. The ocean and the sky were of the same hue a vibrant, iridescent blue. We strolled leisurely in Stanley Market. There were all sorts of handicrafts, especially traditional ones. The focal point of the area was the promenade. Yet, the outer edges of the blazing sky had begun to cool with the indigo of night. Back on the shore, we lay on some huge rocks and drank in sight of the sunset. The sun was like a magnificent fading ball of fire casting down the mountains and islands, slowly reaching out across the clouds, bleaching them to a buttery haze. Before it receded at the horizon and disappeared for the night, it breathed a final

wisp of light. A soft pink and orange gently painted the sky beautiful! The sky, as the sun had gone, slowly faded from orange, to blue, to a deep black with the starlight out across it remarkable! In awe I beheld the sight, and felt an overwhelming sense of calm, relief and a conclusion to the day. In the eve of darkness and quiet, the stars sparkled and shimmered, and the moon glistened on the ocean. (See more of Cosmos photos of Stanley on facebook.)

Classwork Showcase - Logo Design for Jesuit Education

By Alex Doe 5K

Sunset at Stanley Photo: Cosmos Chan

The outline of my logo design is based on our school badge. First of all, the shield of the school badge has been shaped into a heart, which is formed by four letters, L, O, V and E, so as to show Love, one of the values of Jesuit Education. The second value I want to express through the logo is Freedom, thus I used wings, which symbolize freedom, to replace the two ribbon ends of the school badge. The colours white and pink are used to show peace and warmth.

too sweet. Bubbles are chewy and bouncy. Our shop is located in a populated area, where lots of commercial buildings and secondary schools are located, said Lai. But shops doing the same business certainly compete with each other, he said, when compared to big chain shops like Come Buy, our advantage is the quality. Experts of Come Buy are all working in Taiwan so they cannot give staff here timely instructions but we can, said Lai. Like most small businesses, a tight budget is always the biggest hurdle. Rent is extremely high. We are trying to find ways to balance income and expense, said Lai. Little Giant Egg insists on importing ingredients directly from Taiwan to maintain its quality. Other shops usually use goods from mainland China which are cheaper, but we believe those from Taiwan are betters, said Lai. Little Giant Eggs was the first bubble milk tea shop in Hong Kong introducing the Octopus card paying service. We also promote some coupons and give more discounts for our consumers to buy more teas at my stores. Also, providing more choices for our consumers can also help us build a good image. I want to have more branches. Furthermore, I want to bring more different bubble milk teas to all Hong Kong people! Lai said proudly.

Inside a staff member is mixing black tea with milk, while another is adding black glutinous rice balls and ice into the drink. After a few minutes, cups of cold bubble milk tea were served to the customers waiting outside. Another bubble tea shop called Come Buy, a chain shop from Taiwan, is just some distance away. There are 16 branches of it in the city, and it has been rated by Food Lovers magazine as the best bubble tea shop in Hong Kong. But it seems that this branch is not as popular as its neighbor, Little Giant Egg. We have a unique tea called Thirsts-Black Sugar Milk Tea and it has attracted thousands of customers, said Mr. Lai, the owner of Little Giant Egg. A staff member usually stands in front of the shop, shouting to the passer-bys, Black Sugar Bubble Milk Tea is healthy and does not contain white sugar. Black sugar is more natural than white sugar because white sugar is the refined sugar so it does not contain natural minerals like iron and calcium or vitamins like Vitamin B2 like black sugar does, wrote Nancy Lam, a Hong Kong dietitian, on her blog. Customers from Little Giant Eggs said the mike tea there is extremely creamy but never

Ugly Truth of Human Decency
ber 13, a tragedy happened in Foshan, Guangdong province. A two-year-old girl, Wang Yue, known as Little Yueyue by most people, was run over by two vehicles, then 18 bystanders passed her by after she was seriously injured, but no one offered her a helping hand. Little Yueyue was certified dead in an Intensive Care Unit a week after the incident. A video camera captured the accident and the clip went viral online. It showed that Yueyue was first knocked down by a van, and after that, three people passed her by, but they seemed not to notice her though it is obvious that they gazed in her direction. A few minutes later, a truck ran over Yueyues body again before she lost consciousness. And both drivers were hit-and-run. Then, 15 more people passed by but none of them stopped. Finally, a 58-year-old scrap picker saw her and found her

mother, who rushed Yueyue to the hospital immediately. How come those bystanders could walk away without caring for the little girl? Is that the real world we live in now? We need to think deeply about the ugly truth of human decency. It is hard to believe that 18 passers-by all gave a cold shoulder to such a little girl. Zhao Long, a foreigner who lives in China, wrote this comment: Many (people) in China will not help, because in China if you help someone, they think you have money and blame you, even if its not your fault. Its all about money, if you drive an electric bike noone will move, if you hit them you pay money, thats how it is here. Very cold feelings, but its normal here. From this comment, we know the bad impression of China among foreigners. A Chinese netizen Irvin

commented on this news: Its good to do the right thing, but the right thing in China is usually not the smart thing. The above comments show that in China, people just care about themselves because they dont want to get into any trouble. Cold-blooded and hardhearted have become the symbols and culture of China. Many critics believe that the sense of propriety, justice, honesty and honor of Chinese people has become worse and worse. If such culture is to be passed to the future generations, China will become a cold-blooded-country soon. The tragedy has inspired a moral reflection among all Chinese people. I hope everyone in China can realize that the true value of human life is not about money or a countrys economic development, but the moral standard people hold. At last, I would like to express my sympathy to Yueyues family.

Hong Kong District Council Election, 2011

District Council Election on November 6 was very tense and dramatic. Every minute, every vote counts, and to those candidates, its a life-anddeath matter because this election was considered a stepping stone to the five Super District Councilor seats in Legislative Council (LegCo) election next year. In next years election, the number of LegCo members will expand from 60 to 70, and five seats will be chosen from district council members. To extend ones power, different parties made the same move sending as many candidates as possible to get a seat in the District Council. If the candidates succeed, they may be able to hold more power in LegCo. The five super district councilor seats attracted some retired politicians to come back.

The People Power, a radical political group founded in early 2011, sent 62 candidates including Leung Kwok Hung (known as long hair) to compete with influential candidates from the four parties - the Democratic Party, the Association for Democracy and Peoples Livelihood (ADPL), Power for Democracy and Democratic Alliance for the Betterment of Hong Kong (DAB). The Hong Kong PanDemocratic camp suffered a defeat, with only its chairman Ho Chun-yan remaining in seat. The Civic Party failed too, mainly caused by its stance on the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao and the foreign domestic helper cases. Many younger candidates like Ben Chung from the Neo Democrats Party and Kathy Siu from DAB won seats in their districts and were well-received by citizens, defeating the older

and more experienced competitors. Overall, the Pro-Establishment Camp was the winner of the election. After its loss in the previous election, some veteran politicians have made a return to the District Council such as Tien Pei Chun, VicePresident of New Peoples Party and Chan Ho Lim from the Liberal Party, defeating Tanya Chan from the Civic Party. This years voting rate was the highest since 2003, showing people in Hong Kong are becoming more active in politics. As Hong Kong faces serious problems in areas like housing and inflation right now, District Council members need to take up the responsibility to solve them. With those new and dedicated District Councils members elected, the future of Hong Kong seems brighter.

ike Tompkins is a musician who has a good sense of humor and specializes in making a cappella versions of popular songs. He takes the most requested song from his channel wall, and creates an a cappella version of the song. A cappella music is a type of music created only using ones voice. Generally a cappella music revolves around beat-boxing and singing, but Tompkins possesses a unique talent - he is able to mimic the different sounds of the Synth (electric piano), guitars, and all the sounds of each instrument in a drum-set. He is even able to create the sound of a bongo drum by flicking the sides of his mouth! Imagine having to do that for a full four minutes! He has created numerous covers of popular songs by Chris Brown, Owl City, Rihanna, Coldplay and lots of other artists. His videos have received a total of at least 60 million hits! So we all must wonder how Mike Tompkins became successful and how he creates those amazing sounds. Luckily, we have the answer. Tompkins has created a video answering all the most frequently asked questions. When asked what he wanted to be when he was a child, it turned out that Tompkins actually wanted to be a puppeteer at first, instead of being the artist he is now. He created his first a cappella song two years ago. It was just something I sort of fell into, I didnt really plan on doing it, but it just came to me. He says. Tompkins reported that a typi-

Im sure we can all look forward to that! He says he finds inspirations from the things around him, such as his friends and family. The 12-story Opus Hong Kong will house 12 flat units, each occupying one floor. Looking from outside, the slightly twisted body of the building spirals towards the sky, which makes each floor different from others. Perched on the hill, the location offers an unobstructed view of Victoria Harbor. The building kind of designed itself because of the beautiful site. You could almost just put a platform with glass around it as the views from inside are spectacular, said Gehry from Log Angeles via video link at the opening of the exhibition. The name Opus means a single piece of music and it is the singular form of the word opera. The exhibition also showcased photos and models of other buildings by Gehry around the globe, like the landmark Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain, and Walt Disney

Concert Hall in Los Angeles. I love the Walt Disney Concert Hall most because it is totally different to a traditional concert hall, said a visitor, Genie. Another visitor, Van said that she liked the Serpentine Gallery Pavilion in London, where Gehry used wood as the main material rather than gold or silver.
