James! Shes been calling her friend for a minute now but to no avail she never got an answer, so she decided to leave the place where she last saw her friend before he disappear. Theres nothing will happen to her if she stayed on that place since it seems to her that James wasnt there anymore. The only thing thats bothering her was why James suddenly disappeared? Even the three girls on the other side of the road disappeared. She was almost out of the alley when she saw a guy standing on the end of the alley while busy talking to a girl. She immediately run towards them and started talking. Hi, did you happen to see a guy pass this way? He was almost the same height as you do, she said and look towards the guy. She could see the shock on their faces and she heard the girl whispered her name. You know me? Thats great! Can you help me find someone? I think Im lost, she asked and couldnt help but be worried. Shes been standing in front of them but the two kept staring at her as if seeing a ghost and no one even bother to answer her. Hello? Excuse me? she waved her hand in front of them just to get their attention. The girl blinked and tried to put a smile on her face. Oh, youre not supposed to be here! she said. She frowned, the guy whos with the girl tried to shut her up but she didnt give so much attention to it. Youre not supposed to be here. What are you doing here anyway? the girl ask her again. Her frowned deepen. What do you mean Im not supposed to be here? I actually live in this country. She explains. The girl was about to answer but the guy cut him off. Miss, it will be wise of you if you leave now and go back to where you from. Just like what my cousin told you, youre not supposed to be here. He said seriously. B-but why? Were not going to say anything, so please just go already if you still want to live. He said and turns his back and walk away. She follows him, hold him on the arm which made him stop and look at her. Im not yet done talking to you! He releases his arm from her grasp and look at her seriously. We dont have anything to talk to, I already said my piece and thats all you need to you. No. Youre not yet telling me everything I need to know! What is really happening? Why do I need to go back from where I come from? I live here in Lucerne if you dont know! Now shes mad! She was only asking if they saw her friend but they were answering her with nonsense. I will never forget that about you! Even everyone knows you who you are and that you live her! he shouted. The girl hes with went to him and hold him on the arm. Brad. They didnt both bother to look at the girl; they were only staring at each other. Then why cant you just tell me whats going on here?! Because youre already dead! Brad!

She stood still; it feels like someone just poured cold water with ice, after she heard what the guy said. W-what do you mean Im dead? she asked in a shaky voice. Whatever theyre telling her is impossible, she just turned around for a couple of seconds and now theyre telling her shes dead? Daph, we cant do anything anymore. She insists on learning the truth and we cant do anything about it. The guy said in his serious tone. But you will destroy the course of time and it cant happen! Its not our fault! Its her fault! Still, you shouldnt tell her those things! She takes a deep breath then shouts at the two. Wait! Stop talking as if Im not here! The two turned to her. Now, tell me. What are you saying? Why are you telling me that Im dead if Im here standing in front of you two and talking? she asked. The girl whose name is Daphne took a deep breath before asking her. How old are you? 20. Why? Daphne turned to the guy for a moment before looking at her again. Barbara, youre in the future. 2 years in the future to be exact. She was stunned. She keeps on telling herself that it was just a joke and any minute the two will start laughing at her. But a couple of seconds has passed but no one even crack a smile, then she found her voice. W-what? What do you mean in the future? Cant you understand what she said? Youre in the future and not in your time. The guy said in an irritating voice. Instead of being afraid on what theyre saying, shes starting to feel irritated because of the way this guy talks to her. Youre right I dont understand what youre saying. Why dont you explain it to me? How can I be in the future when Im just with my friend? The guy looked around and saw that some of the people were looking at them, he hold her hand but she tried to let go but the guy wouldnt let her. He holds her tightly and starts walking away with her. Hey! Let go of me! Youre catching too much attention, come with us, he said and continues walking towards the alley. The guy and the girl brought her to an apartment at downtown Lucerne. She knows the place, because thats the place where she saw Elinor. Thats also the place where James suddenly disappeared and left her alone. Why here? she asked. This is the first time she went to a house on the downtown, every time shes here she only pass by the place with James while looking for Elinor. Im sorry Princess, this is the only place were the rent is low and we can afford. The guy answers sarcastically. The guy opened the door and went inside. Youre together on this apartment? Brad and I stay on different room. There are four rooms here; anyway, Im Daphne Maravilla. The girl extended her hand to her. She immediately accepted it. Barbara Del Fierro. She looked at the guy whos too busy preparing dinner in the kitchen; Daphne saw her staring at him. She smiled at her and looks at guys direction. Hes Brad, hes my cousin. Im sorry about his attitude towards you earlier; hes not normally like that. Its okay. I think Ill get use to him. Please try to understand, he just started acting like that when his girlfriend died. Daphne informed her. She could hear the sadness in her voice. Girlfriend?

Daphne nod at her. Yes, did you know that you- Daphne. Brad cut her off even before she finishes what shes been saying. She bit her lower lip before asking her permission and leaves her on the living room alone. She just smiled at her and looked at Brad. Daphne immediately went to the kitchen to help her cousin. After a couple of minutes, Daphne called her for dinner. Im sorry for imposing my stay. Theres nothing we can do about it, youre already here. Brad said who started eating. She saw Daphne elbowing her cousin before she smiled at her. Its okay, Barbara. Im happy that youre here, I want a different companion too. She smiled at her then started eating. Brad said that shes suppose to be dead, if what he said is true, theres only two possible explanation for that. That shes not really from this time or shes a ghost. She wouldnt get her answer if she leaves so soon, so she better stay here even though shes not welcome in the house and in the company of the cousins especially Brad. They were all busy cleaning the table when they heard a noise from the second floor of the house. Brad immediately told them to stay where they are and he went alone to check what happened. After a couple of minutes and after they were done cleaning they decided to follow Brad because he didnt went back. When they reached the second floor they started hearing arguments from one of the rooms. They heard a womans voice answering the angry tirade of Brad. They immediately run towards the direction of the argument and when they peek at the room they saw Brad and a woman and theres also a big cabinet which is kind of out-of-place in the middle of the room. The girl is beautiful, shes fair and the color of her hair is soft brown. She has a upturned nose and a kissable lips, shes not that tall because she didnt reach Brads shoulder. Brad! she and Daphne both called at the same time. She walks towards the girl and Daphne went to her cousin. What is happening here? Daphne asked the two. The girl pointed her finger at Brad then shout. He started it! Im Daphne, shes Barbara and this guy is my cousin Brad. And you are? Holly. The irritated girl said. Daphnes jaw dropped, just like what happened when she saw her at the alley this afternoon. When she recovered from her shock Daphne asks Holly, How did you get here? I dont know. The last thing I remember I was in my room, at Ate Sabinas house in Ilorar, when I stand I was here already. Then that guy arrived and started shouting! Because you dont live her and dont belong here! Brad said. Holly arched an eyebrow. Dont you think I dont know that? Of course I know it because I dont even know you, even them! Daphne intervenes at the commotion. Enough you two. Have you eaten? she asked Holly. What time is it? Im waiting for dinner at home actually. Come, why dont we go downstairs so you could eat and rest after that. Daphne said and went out of the room with Holly in tow. Brad stayed in the room and she decided to stay with him, when she look at him she said, You shouldnt have done that. She said. And what do you want me to do? You already ruined the future, I wont allow it for the second time if I could prevent it. So it is my fault youre acting like that? Youre angry because I ruined the future and the follow of the story, is that it? Her patience is starting to slip because whatever she do, whatever she says is not enough for the guy. Also, whenever Brad is talking to her, hes always shouting, always angry at her.

Brad walks towards her and gripped her arm tightly. You want to know why Im angry at you? I wouldnt ask you if I didnt wish to know. She secretly winced because his hold at his arm is starting to get painful by the minute. This is the first time someone gripped her arm in a angry manner so shes not used to it. Because youre dead! I already accepted that to myself that youre gone and now, youre suddenly here! What do you really want to do with me?! She frowned and the pain on her arm is almost forgotten when she heard what he said. What? You shouldnt be here. Youre not welcome here anymore, you and that girl downstairs. I would be happy if the both of you were already gone when I woke up tomorrow. Because I dont know what to do anymore if you stay here longer and will suddenly walk out of my life after that! She shakes her head. I dont understand! Explain it to me! Brad stared at her for a couple minutes before he release her from his grasped and walk away. With shaking knees she lean on the wall and slide down to the floor, not really knowing what happened and what to do next. Clearly shes not welcome here and for what reason she didnt know because Brad and Daphne didnt even bother to tell her. After Holly ate her dinner, they went to the living room for them to discuss what happened to them and what is going and also the possible solution to their problem. We need to talk on how we can get you back on your own time. Daphne informs them. How did you get here? Youre not welcome here. Brad asks Barbara on his usual icy tone. We all know that already so do you mind stop repeating that? Holly said irritably. She shrugged her shoulder. I dont know. I told you before; I was just only standing on the side street waiting for a taxi to come by when I saw my friend disappear and my surroundings change. What about you Holly? Daphne asks. Holly shrugged her shoulder too. I was in my room, in the house of my cousins friend when the cabinet I was leaning on suddenly fell and when I looked up I saw him. Holly explained and stares at Brad. Our problem would be is what kind of ability they used in order to be transported here on our time. Thats easy. They all look at Daphnes direction who stands and walks toward a shelves, from there she pulled out a book and went back to her chair. The three of them were just quiet waiting for Daphne to talk, after a couple of minutes Daphne look up and stare at her and Holly. Holly is the one who use a portal while Barbara is the Time Manipulator. Whoa! Wait a minute, what do you mean by that? Daphne looked at Brad direction and he just nod at his cousin. Im not supposed to say this but since you both change everything, theres nothing I could do but tell you everything you need to know. That would be what? Both of you was a Manipulator. Holly can make a portal with her mind. Where ever she is if she just thinks about it she can make a portal. Im guessing that what happened to you is because of the portal. Daphne explained. Are you saying- Holly asked. Yes. You can do it. Daphne said not finishing Hollys question. All you have to do is to master it and control it. Wait, how did it happen? Im not thinking of anything- Holly trailed off. What? ask Brad. Secret Portal. Holly whispered. Daphne nods. Thats what triggered the portal to appear. What about mine? she asked.

Hes couldnt sleep, no, he cant sleep knowing shes with him on this house. When he saw her after he couldnt believe his eyes, he couldnt believe that Barbara is actually standing in front of them. Its been a couple of months since the Barbara of this time was buried who died because of her responsibility as a guarding. During those months, he doesnt even know how to continue living the life he has right now. He loves Barbara. Shes his life ever since he me her two years ago. Whoever the Barbara hes with right now, shes still the same girl he met before. Hes just not sure if how many months to go before they meet each other on her time. He sighed and looks up when he felt the presences of someone. Why are you still awake? he asked. She sat beside him and lean her head on his shoulder. Its okay, Brad, shell go home and youll forget about once again. Daphne said. He sighed again. I know that. But Im not even sure what to do anymore if she left. Youll be fine. No. It wont be the same. I miss her! Do you know that I want to hug her so tight when I saw her earlier? I want to assure myself that shes real and that shes really standing in front of me! he hissed in a whispered tone. Im sorry. He shakes his head. You dont have to be sorry. No. If it werent for me, she should be still alive. Daphne, what happened to Barbara is not your fault. Its her decision and Im not even sure what happened to her and suddenly make that decision to change places with you. So dont blame yourself. They both turned around when they heard footsteps on the stairs walking towards them. They saw Holly standing on the sofa. Is it true that Barbara and I were on the future? Holly asked them quietly. You dont believe us? Daphne asks when Holly sat beside her. Holly silently shakes her head. Not really. I just cant believe that Im actually here in your time without even knowing how. You will know how it happens in the right time. Now, go back to bed and sleep. Brad said and stands. Daphne and Holly follows him upstairs, and saw him went to Barbaras room without him knowing. Tell me, Daphne, why is he like that? Hes so serious and as if hes angry towards Barbara but nice when shes asleep? she asked when she saw him went inside the room. Youll know soon enough. I dont want to talk about it not unless Brad gave me the permission to do. Daphne said before leaving Holly alone in the hallway. Brad walk towards Barbaras bed and stared at her. Shes still the same girl she fell in love with. But shes doesnt belong here anymore. It only means he needs to get her back to her own time before something bad happens to her. He caress her cheeks and brushes some of her hair away from her face, he bend down and kiss Barbara on her forehead for the last time before he went out of her room.

When Barbara woke up the following morning she saw Brad in the kitchen busy preparing their breakfast. Daphne and Holly were nowhere in sight and she guess that the two were still sleeping since its almost midnight when they finish talking about what happened to them. She greeted Brad a good morning; he stopped stirring his coffee before looking at her directions and acknowledges her presences. She quietly stood on the doorway. She didnt know how to face Brad knowing that he doesnt like her, he also didnt start a conversation so the silence between them stretches for a long time. This is really awkward. She said to herself. Brad set up the table for two, sat on one of the chairs and look at her. Come and sit already so we could have our breakfast. He said. She stood there for a couple of minutes before walking towards the table, sat on a vacant chair in front of him. She was about to make her own hot cocoa when Brad started making it for her. He was quiet silent and didnt even bother talking to her. She could still feel the animosity between them but it is better than him shouting at her. What? Brad asks when he put down the cup in front of her. Nothing. You could ask me anything if you want. Really? He nods and started eating, after a couple of minutes of silence she decided to ask him some of the question she keeps on asking herself since yesterday. I have a question. Brad nods and bites on his bread. Fire away. Why are you angry at me? Brad stops eating and look at her. Look, if you dont want to answer my question its okay. He shakes his head. Its okay. Really? Yes. He turned to her, pick up his cup of chocolate, sipped and answer her. Im not angry at you. Im angry at the situation that were in right now. Why? A couple of months ago, my fiance died then you came. Which is kind of frustrating on my part because I dont know how am I going to forget what happened if you went back to your time. He smiled sadly at her. Did you know that I tried my damnest to forget her then when I did get over her, you suddenly shows up and messes things up. She frowns. I dont get it. Whats my connection to your dead fiance? Nothing. Maybe I just diverted my anger and frustration at you because of what happened. Because Im not supposed to be here. She said a matter-of-factly. Good morning! They both fell silent when they heard Holly greeted them along with Daphne whos still yawning. The two immediately went to sit with them and started breaking their fast. Whats your plan today? Daphne asks them. I want to go out today. What are your suggestions? Holly said. Daphne put down her spoon and excitedly said, Theres this carnival at town, and if Im not mistaken this is their last night in Lucerne. Want to go there? Sure! Id love to. Holly said and she excitedly finishes her food. Daphne look at her direction where she quietly eating. What about you Barbara? She looked at Brad directly whos quietly sitting on his chair and waiting for her answer. After a couple of seconds she said, I want to visit my grave.

Barbara sat quietly at Brads back on his motorcycle. They were on their way to the cemetery to visit her grave. She knew the place; she always travels this path whenever her parents decided to visit the grave of their parents. She couldnt help feel devastated when she saw her surroundings. On her time, it wasnt like this, in this time there were no light. Its as if the sun isnt rising on this place anymore, its dark everywhere and the fog is so thick. Its a miracle Brad still knew where he was going. The trees wasnt green anymore and some didnt even grow and no leaves on their trunk. What happened here? she whispered. This happened after your death. Its been a couple of months since it occurs. Why? Things change. Theres a lot changes happens since the guardians died. The Life of Imperial City cannot be maintained by one guardian. Explains Brad. Guardians? Brad parked the motorcycle beside a tree and he dismounted, he helps her get gown. She removes the helmet shes wearing and gave it to Brad. When Brad started walking she immediately follow him to their family mausoleum. She couldnt help to grip Brads arm because of the eerie feeling she felt around her. Shes starting to fear the place. If before she was always in the cemetery, now, she doesnt even want to step her foot on it anymore after this. Are you okay? She hesitated for a second then decided to nod. I I guess so. She said and continues walking. Brad went on leaving her behind, and she couldnt help herself stare at the guys back. He has a broad shoulder, tall and its obvious on his stance that he could carry himself well. When they drive Daphne and Holly at the carnival it she saw how the girls look at him. She knows that Brad has his appeal especially to her. Hes a fair skinned guy and his hair; its as if hes too lazy to comb it. A couple of steps away from the mausoleum, he stops. She saw a figure standing inside and it looks to her that the figure were deep in prayers. Stay here, Brad told her before walking away and went inside towards the woman. She stays still beside a tall tree without leaving the woman inside the mausoleum. From her place she saw the womans face, also the stance of her looks familiar. She gasped when the woman faces her direction and she saw who she was. She couldnt help but be teary-eyed while looking at the tormented and sad face of the lady. Its her mother. Barbara went still when she saw Brad embraces her mother and tap her on her shoulder. If she study their gesture to each other she could say that the two really know each other and that they were very close. She couldnt help but remember her talk with Brad after their confrontation with Holly that evening. You want to know why Im angry at you? Because youre dead! I already accepted that to myself that youre gone and now, youre suddenly here! What do you really want to do with me?! You shouldnt be here. If shes not mistaken the two said their goodbyes and Brad waited for the car to be out of sight before he went back to where shes standing. Sorry if you waited too long. He said, hold her hand and started walking towards the mausoleum. She didnt say anything. Her mind is too busy formulating the right question for Brad in order for her to have her real answers to her new questions. She needs to know the truth and shes intends to found out because she will make it sure that Brad will tell her the truth. She couldnt breathe when she saw her name on one of the grave. In front of it was a bouquet of flowers which is her favorite. She offered a prayer and after a minute of silent she couldnt wait for a another minute and she talk. Thats my mom, isnt it?she whispered. What? That woman who just left. Thats my mom. I know. She said without looking at him. She couldnt because she knew if she did, she couldnt stop her tears from falling. Shes always here, every morning. And you always meet each other here every day. What do you mean by that? Holly already holds a big teddy bear, thanks to the help of her guardian Chance who get it for her. Why are you looking for them when Im already here? Chance ask then put his arm on her shoulder. Holly remove Chances arm around her irritably then stepped away from him. Please, I dont trust you even though Daphne knows who you are. Chances shoulder fell and he decided to walk beside his friend Jared whos quietly following the two ladies. Their attention suddenly went to the crowd whos busy running in different direction. Whats going on? Holly asked while panic started to creep on her. Ill be back! Chance said before he disappear. He was only gone for a couple of minutes before he was back and gripped her on her arm. We have to go! You need to get out of here while you still can! Where is Brad? panic and fear were written all over his face. Whats happening? Daphne ask when she saw Chances face. Theyre here. And it looks like that they already know about Holly and Barbara. We need to bring them back to their time while we still can! What is happening? Chance open the door to the apartment and immediately went inside with Holly, followed by the other four.

They guys immediately formed in a protective circle around the two while Daphne went to the bookshelves and pulled out the book from last night and thrust it to Barbaras hand. Whats this? Finally, all along I thought I will never got the chance to see you two again. So the rumors are actually true. A voice said from somewhere. From the second floor, a man came into their view while theres a couple of strange men around him. What is this? Holly ask with horror written all over her face and gripped her hand tightly. I should have thought about it. I shouldnt have killed the Time Manipulator in this time. She stood still. Was he referring to me? She silently ask herself. she looked down her hand when she feels a grip on her other hand, Brad were seriously looking at the man while holding her. Hes assuring her that nothing bad will happen to them on this confrontation. Leave them alone, Monkshood, the guy in front of Holly said in a serious tone. The man smile with a sinister grin. Why would I do that? Knowing that they could change this future? She let go of Brads hand and her hands immediately went to her throat because she couldnt breathe, its as if someone is wringing her neck and blocking the air out of her. Even Holly were gasping for air. Im sorry guardians, but your adventure ends here! the man on the baluster of the second floor said to them. Enough! Brad shouted and the two man with them didnt even got the chance to move because Brad were already gone. Daphne went to Barbara and help her get up. Stop it already Monkshood! Leave them alone! They doesnt know anything about what is happening here! Daphne shouts at the guy. Maybe they dont know anything right now, so while its still early they need to die so that they couldnt stop us! Barbaras running out of hair and its getting harder and harder for her to breathe every minute. Brad quietly position himself at Monkshoods back without him knowing, and silently penetrated his body with his bare hands through his heart and squeeze it. Go! Get away from here and look for Hollys portal! Both of you need to get out of here while you still can! He said to his companion. No! I wont leave you here! Barbara answered even though he knows shes still having a hard time catching her breathe. He smiled at her for a minute and because formal again.
