We characterize SA as the individual
ability to assess threat criteria, analyze
structural integrity and process entry
within an enclosure. An individual’s
assessment will aid in establishing the
primary direction of movement, quick
decision making and maintaining
overall communication.

In short, CQB can be
characterized as close-range
interpersonal aggression and
violence between opposing
wills.

Intro to Structure Military Approach


This type of warfare requires small units or teams

Assessment to negotiate engagements at very close


distances and within the proximity of hand-to-
hand combat. Due to the nature of CQB, each
CQB Defined team member needs to possess proficiency
with their weapons/gear and display the rapid
ability to make split second decisions in threat
identification and engagement.
