II. Project Rationale and Objectives
As we all know, environmental degradation is a growing concern, affecting not only
the ecosystem but also the well-being of future generations. In many areas, including
our own, deforestation, soil erosion, and loss of biodiversity pose significant
challenges. Schools, as institutions of learning, have a vital role in instilling
environmental awareness and responsibility among students.
For this reason, it is essential to educate learners about the importance of trees and
their role in maintaining ecological balance. Through a Tree-Planting Program at
Liloy National High School, students will not only contribute to a greener
environment but also develop a sense of responsibility toward nature. Furthermore,
this program will teach them the following:
☐ Enhancing environmental awareness
☐ Reducing carbon footprint and improving air quality
☐ Preventing soil erosion and promoting biodiversity
☐ Beautifying the school surroundings
☐ Encouraging teamwork and community participation
☐ Developing responsibility and leadership skills
☐ Strengthening disaster resilience through green spaces
☐ Promoting sustainable practices for future generations
By integrating tree planting into school activities, students will gain practical
knowledge and experience in environmental conservation. Additionally, the skills and
values they acquire can be applied beyond the school, influencing their families and
communities. Through this initiative, Liloy National High School can contribute to a
sustainable and healthier future for all.
III. Project Description
One of the key environmental initiatives in schools today is the promotion of sustainability
and ecological responsibility through tree planting. The Tree-Planting Program at Liloy
National High School aims to contribute to environmental conservation while educating
students on the importance of trees in maintaining ecological balance. Deforestation, climate
change, and soil erosion are pressing issues, and this program seeks to instill environmental
awareness and proactive participation among learners.
In alignment with national and global environmental goals, this program seeks to:
a. Raise public awareness about the environmental benefits of trees, including their role in
improving air quality, preventing soil erosion, and mitigating climate change.
b. Establish green spaces within the school to enhance the ecosystem, provide shade, and
serve as a learning tool for environmental education.
c. Promote sustainable tree planting practices to ensure long-term survival and impact.
d. Showcase tree planting as a replicable model that students and their families can
implement in their homes and communities.
e. Instill values of environmental stewardship, responsibility, and teamwork among students
and faculty members.
The Tree-Planting Program at Liloy National High School will involve students, teachers,
school administrators, and local government officials. The program will implement strategic
tree planting using native and climate-resilient tree species to ensure adaptability and long-
term growth. To support this initiative, a task force will oversee the planning, execution, and
monitoring of the planted trees. A seminar-workshop will also be conducted before the
planting activity to educate participants on proper tree care, biodiversity, and sustainable land
management.
The school administrators, in collaboration with local government units, barangay officials,
and environmental organizations, will lead this project. Funding and resources will be
sourced from government environmental programs, local government initiatives, and private
sector partnerships.
Finally, school stakeholders involved in the Tree-Planting Program at Liloy National High
School are expected to submit quarterly progress reports detailing tree growth, survival rates,
and overall environmental impact. These reports will be forwarded to the relevant
government agencies, ensuring accountability and the long-term success of the project.
