Greetings!

In the passage of the DepEd Order No. 013, s. 2019, the “Alternative Learning
System (ALS) provides opportunities for out-of-school youth and adult (OSYA)
learners to develop basic and functional literacy skills and to access equivalent
pathways to complete basic education” with the major objective of improving the
quality of life of all Filipino learners through different modes of providing basic
education by equipping students with the necessary life skills needed.
Based on the recent SHS-ALS Early Registration, we discovered that many of our
ALS registrants wish to take other strands, notably the General Academic Strand,
with the launch of these Senior High School Alternative Learning System
curriculum program for School Year 2022-2023. We regarded this as a wake-up
call to examine our programs in order to better meet the requirements of our
students in the area.
In this regard, we would like to convey our desire to provide the General
Academic Strand as an additional strand for the School Year 2022-2023, which
we feel will be able to actualize the Department's vision, for which we thank you
in advance.
