Appendix 2 – Project Proposal Outline

This is a template for your business proposal. We encourage each team to submit a document using its
own style, using images, research, and any other mechanisms that will support your application. It is not
expected that each team will be able to answer all the questions – but each team will need to
demonstrate that it has thought through the different dimensions of its business idea and how the team
can make it a success.

The overall evaluation of each proposal will focus in on whether the application demonstrates a unique
business idea that is clearly articulated and understandable as a potential commercial product/service
with a clear route to the market.

Introduction

A short background statement about the origins of the project and how the key ideas have been
developed. Also, a summary of the key points from the business plan that highlights the main drivers
behind the application.

Value Proposition/Opportunity Proposition

Please describe what problem the project will solve or what situation the project will improve. It also
should explain clearly its value to potential customers. And, it should present a clear explanation of the
unique features of the product or service.

Intended Customers/Potential Market

Analysis of the current market; identify potential customers

Evaluation/Analysis of Business Opportunities

What is the growth potential of the proposed business?

What are its strengths and weaknesses?

How will its strengths support the opportunity? What are the threats to its success?

The benefit to DKU Community

Please describe how the project will benefit the DKU community. What’s the impact?

Project Milestones

Describe the key project milestones with the timeline if possible

Resources Required

List of technology resources required (including any that are not readily available); technical/expert
assistance required/ stipend request and budget plan
