1. Uniform Speed
Q1. A car travels 60 km in 2 hours. What is its speed?
Ans:
Speed = Distance / Time = 60 km / 2 h = 30 km/h
🔹 2. SI Units Conversion
Q2. Convert 36 km/h into m/s.
Ans:
36 × (1000 / 3600) = 10 m/s
🔹 3. Average Speed
Q3. A train travels 120 km in 3 hours and then 60 km in 1 hour.
What is the average speed?
Ans:
Total distance = 180 km, total time = 4 h → Avg speed = 180/4 =
45 km/h
🔹 4. Distance from Speed & Time
Q4. A scooter moves at 40 km/h for 45 minutes. Find the distance
covered.
Ans:
Time = 45 min = 0.75 h → Distance = Speed × Time = 40 × 0.75
= 30 km
🔹 5. Acceleration Calculation
Q5. A bike increases its velocity from 20 m/s to 30 m/s in 5
seconds. What is its acceleration?
Ans:
a = (v – u)/t = (30 – 20)/5 = 2 m/s²
🔹 6. Velocity from Acceleration
Q6. A car starts from rest and accelerates uniformly at 2 m/s² for
10 seconds. What is its final velocity?
Ans:
v = u + at = 0 + 2×10 = 20 m/s
🔹 7. Distance from u, a, t
Q7. A body starts from rest and accelerates at 3 m/s² for 4
seconds. How far does it travel?
Ans:
s = ut + ½ at² = 0 + ½ × 3 × 4² = 0.5 × 3 × 16 = 24 m
🔹 8. Final Velocity (Using 3rd equation)
Q8. A car travels 100 m from rest with an acceleration of 2 m/s².
What is its final velocity?
Ans:
v² = u² + 2as = 0 + 2×2×100 = 400 → v = √400 = 20 m/s
🔹 9. Distance from Graph
Q9. In a velocity-time graph, velocity = 5 m/s, time = 10 s. Find
the distance.
Ans:
Area under v-t graph = rectangle = v × t = 5 × 10 = 50 m
🔹 10. Negative Acceleration
Q10. A bus slows from 25 m/s to 5 m/s in 5 seconds. Find its
acceleration.
Ans:
a = (v – u)/t = (5 – 25)/5 = –20/5 = –4 m/s² (deceleration)
🔹 11. Average Velocity
Q11. A body moves 10 m east, then 10 m west in 10 seconds.
Find average speed and average velocity.
Ans:
Total distance = 20 m
Displacement = 0 m →
Avg speed = 20/10 = 2 m/s, Avg velocity = 0/10 = 0 m/s
🔹 12. Time Calculation
Q12. A train moves with 72 km/h. How much time does it take to
cover 1.2 km?
Ans:
Speed = 72 × (1000/3600) = 20 m/s
Time = 1200 / 20 = 60 s
🔹 13. Free Fall Motion
Q13. A stone falls freely from rest. What is its velocity after 3
seconds? (g = 9.8 m/s²)
Ans:
v = u + gt = 0 + 9.8 × 3 = 29.4 m/s
🔹 14. Height in Free Fall
Q14. A stone falls freely for 4 seconds. How high was it initially?
Ans:
s = ½gt² = 0.5 × 9.8 × 16 = 78.4 m
🔹 15. Retardation
Q15. A vehicle moving at 25 m/s stops in 5 seconds. Find its
retardation.
Ans:
a = (0 – 25)/5 = –5 m/s²
🔹 16. Car Acceleration Problem
Q16. A car starts from rest, attains 20 m/s in 4 seconds. Find
acceleration and distance covered.
Ans:
a = (20 – 0)/4 = 5 m/s²
s = ut + ½at² = 0 + 0.5×5×16 = 40 m
🔹 17. Relative Motion
Q17. Two cars A and B move in same direction at 60 km/h and 90
km/h respectively. What is their relative speed?
Ans:
Relative speed = 90 – 60 = 30 km/h
🔹 18. Uniform Acceleration
Q18. A bike goes from 0 to 80 km/h in 10 seconds. Find
acceleration in m/s².
Ans:
80 km/h = 22.2 m/s → a = (22.2 – 0)/10 = 2.22 m/s²
🔹 19. Non-Uniform Motion
Q19. A boy cycles 10 m in 2 s, 20 m in next 2 s, 30 m in next 2 s.
Is motion uniform?
Ans:
No. Distance in equal intervals of time is increasing → Non-
uniform motion
🔹 20. Equation Use Challenge
Q20. A train accelerates from rest to 40 m/s in 10 seconds. Then
moves at 40 m/s for 20 s. Then decelerates to rest in 10 seconds.
Find total distance.
Ans:Acceleration phase: s₁ = 0.5×4×10² = 200 m
Constant phase: s₂ = 40×20 = 800 m
Deceleration phase: s₃ = 0.5×4×10² = 200 m
Total = 200 + 800 + 200 = 1200 m
