Conservative activist brings principled, substantive solutions Conservative Republican author, businessman and talk show host Todd Long officially announced his candidacy for United States Congress today in Florida's 9th District. Im running for Congress because I cannot stand idly by as failed and career politicians drive our country into the ground. Politicians are the problem, not the solution. We need to elect statesmen - men and women who will put the future of our country ahead of their own personal ambitions, Long said. In just two years, Alan Grayson wrought havoc on our country and our economy, hailing Cap and Trade and ObamaCare and myriad other economy killing liberal positions. And then he punctuated that record with the single most hateful, embarrassing campaign our country has ever seen. We must not take that step backwards, and I intend to do everything I can to make sure we dont. Long said that that he brings a blueprint for success for our nation. Its called the Constitution. I am a Constitutional Conservative, a believer in the principles that made our nation great. And based on those principles, I have been engaged for almost a decade in the fight to force Congress and the President to live within its means, to balance the federal budget and to put an end to special perks for elected officials. Its the only way we will clean up the mess and fix our economy and ensure prosperity for all of Americas future generations. Long added that he strongly supports major tax reform and has been one of the areas strongest proponents of the FairTax. Long went on to say that his campaign would be focused on reaching out individually to voters. Youre probably not going to see me much on TV, but I can almost guarantee that you will see us at your door or in your neighborhood. My campaign and I will be spending the rest of the year going door-to-door, talking to people one-on-one and explaining my solutions to the mess that career politicians and Washington cronies have gotten us into. Its not a glitzy campaign, but our citizens deserve more than thirty second sound bites. Long also said that his priorities include long-term energy solutions with an ultimate goal of energy independence for America, education reform that rewards innovation and success, term limits for Congress, and fighting to change Congressional cronyism. I will never vote for ANY legislation that I am not allowed to read first, Long pledged. Todd Long is a conservative small business owner and talk show host from Central Florida.
