A. Introduction to Front Office Services


 Definition: Front Office Services refer to the department in a lodging establishment
(like hotels, resorts, inns) that interacts directly with guests from the moment they
arrive until their departure.
 Functions: Handling reservations, guest registration, check-in/check-out procedures,
information services, billing, and guest relations.
 Importance: As the first and last point of contact, FOS shapes the guest’s entire
experience and reflects the quality of the establishment.
B. Basic Concepts in Front Office Services
 Roles and Responsibilities:
o Greet and welcome guests.
o Managing reservations and room assignments.
o Handling guest inquiries and requests.
o Coordinating with other departments (housekeeping, maintenance, food and
beverage) to ensure a smooth guest experience.

o Communication and interpersonal skills.

o Computer literacy for using property management systems (PMS).
