Spring Flower Paper Chain
You will need:
• A ruler, a pencil, colourful paper and card
or
• Our strip templates printed onto colourful
paper and card
• Scissors
• Glue
• (Optional) Stapler
1) (If you are using the printed template, you can skip this
step.) Get your colourful paper and turn it to a landscape
position. Use your ruler and pencil to measure and draw
strips with a width of 2cm all along the paper. We found
you could fit about 15 strips onto one sheet of paper.
2) Cut out the strips of colourful paper.
3) Now, take one of the strips in your petal colour and bring
the two shortest sides together to make a loop. Use glue to
attach the strip into this position. You will have created a
loop. Each loop will be a petal on your flower.
4) You will need six of these loops to make one flower for
your paper chain.

5) Next, take one of the strips and put a dab of glue on top
of the point at the end.
6) Then, place the end of another loop on top of this glue to
attach the two petals together.
7) Repeat this step, pairing up the other petals. You will
need three of these figure of eight loops to make one flower.
8) Next, add glue to the centre point of the figure of eight
petal pairs before layering them on top of each other in this
flower shape.
9) Next, cut out a circle of card. If your Spring flower
paper chain will be viewed from both sides, you will need
two circles of card.
10) Glue the circle to the centre of the petal pairs. Glue the
second card circle onto the back if needed. Repeat these
steps to make more paper flowers for your Spring paper
chain.

11) Once you have two flowers you would like to join
together, get a spare strip of paper. We found the flower
paper chain looked especially effective when this link strip
was cut from green paper.
12) Loop this linking strip through one of the petals on each
flower you wish to join together.
13) Secure with glue, or a staple for extra strength.
14) Now just repeat to create your beautiful Spring flower
paper chain.
