Preamble
This course is a preparatory course to 2D computer animation. It helps the students to learn various
animation techniques and provides fundamental skills and practices with vector based animation tool
through both technical and creative exercises. This course emphasis on creative content, experimentation,
design, process, collaboration and execution of Flash-based movies through the use of photography,
graphics, animation and sound.
Expected Outcome
After successfully completing the course the student should be able to
1. Describe and understand the animation techniques.
2. Identify the tasks involved in creating animation using Adobe Flash.
3. Draw vector images using the tools in Adobe Flash.
4. Capture, Manipulate and Import the bitmap images for animation.
5. Import and manipulate audio.
6. Publish a swf movie.
7. Make an oral and visual presentation.
8. Develop a 2D animated short film.
3 BASIC DRAWING
Strong Basics of drawing: simple shapes - household objects, fruits,
flower, landscapes Human and Animal Anatomy - Children figures,
Drawing for Animation: Walks – Passing Position or breakdown, Double 5 10
bounce, Foot action, and Walk spacing, Arm movements, Sneaks- Runs,
Jumps and Skips.

Introduction to Raster Graphics - Introduction to Adobe Photoshop –
Tools and File Format - Working with Layers – Layer Styles - Filters -
Masking - Actions, Channels, Scripts - Slices, Tables, Rollovers, Web

Content, Optimization, Creating gif animation. GRIDS, Slices, Snap
options, Preset palettes, Standards - Color Separation Image Editing –
Retouching.
