COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course explores the interrelationship between people and the Earth’s ecosystems. It examines fundamental ecological principles and how human activities affect the environment. The course
aims to raise environmental awareness and promote sustainable practices by critically analyzing environmental issues such as climate change, pollution, deforestation, and biodiversity loss. Through
scientific inquiry and civic engagement, students are encouraged to become responsible stewards of the environment and agents of sustainable development.
A. Cognitive
1. Explain basic ecological concepts such as ecosystems, biodiversity, and sustainability.
2. Analyze the impact of human activities on natural resources and ecological balance.
3. Assess environmental issues such as climate change, pollution, deforestation, and loss of biodiversity.
4. Interpret data related to ecosystem health and environmental degradation.
5. Propose sustainable solutions to local and global environmental challenges.
B. Affective
1. Demonstrate a sense of responsibility and concern for environmental protection and conservation.

CLASS POLICIES
1. All students are obliged to attend the class regularly.
2. A student may be accepted in the class even after being late for 20 minutes but he/she will be marked late during the session. If a student is habitually late, he/she will be referred to the
Dean of student affairs for appropriate sanction.
3. Students may be excused from the class due to illness or some valid reasons provided that he/she will present a medical certificate issued by a physician or excuse letter (in the case of
family reasons) signed by his/her parents or guardian.
4. Any student who accumulated (3) unexcused absences from class must be referred to the guidance and counseling office to obtain an interview slip to be presented to the instructor upon
assumption to the class.
5. A student who accumulated consecutive absences equivalent to 20% (6 unexcused absences) of the total number of contact hours shall be automatically dropped from the class.
6. Any student who cheats during an examination, quiz, test or recitation, or who plagiarizes or who deliberately looks at another’s examination paper shall be subject to disciplinary sanctions.
In addition to the sanction imposed, cheating is punishable by a grade of 5 in the exercise involved. In the case of a final examination that the student is caught in the act of cheating, he/she
will be given a grade of 5 (equivalent for a failing grade) for the said course.
7. Passing of requirements including projects and assignment shall be done before or on the deadline. Late submissions will not be entertained.
