A RARE MEETING WITH CATHOLICISM SERIES WRITER AND HOST FR. ROBERT BARRON: Our
very own Director of Religious Education at OLV, Lisa Schechter, had an incredible opportunity to
meet Fr. Barron on her Spring Break vacation a week ago in Chicago. Mrs. Schechter's daughter, Lindsey Robitaille, is taking a graduate course on the Life of Pope Benedict XVI at the University of St. Mary of the Lake/Mundelein Seminary in Chicago which is also the same university where Fr. Barron teaches and has his residence. Fr. Barron happened to be in his office when Lisa visited the campus with her daughter while she attended class. The timing could not have been more perfect as our Lenten Program at Our Lady of Victory just featured six sessions from the Catholicism Series. The Lenten Series was well-received by all who attended and the Soup Suppers were a big hit. A big thank-you goes out to long-time parishioner, Dick Miller, for providing the delicious soup dinners! Donations from the dinners will be split between the parish and Operation Rice Bowl.

NATIONAL TV TURNOFF WEEK, APRIL 30 MAY 6, 2012: Many American homes have more televisions
than people. Some children spend more hours in front of those TVs than in school. Too much TV time leads to a sedentary lifestyle and cuts into family time and time for enriching our lives in other ways. Every year, millions of people participate in TV Turnoff Week; TVs get shut off and families plan alternate activities for entertainment. This year National TV Turnoff Week is April 30-May 6. Check out How To reduce screen time and discover alternate activities at: http://familyfitness.about.com/od/seasonalsportsandf u n / q t / T u r n o f f - W e e k . h t m o r http://www.turnoffyourtv.com/turnoffweek/TV.turnoff .week.html. "DEVELOPING RESILIENCE THROUGH SPIRITUAL EXERCISE IN THE SECOND HALF OF LIFE" Robert L. Weber, Ph.D. Monday, April 30, 1:00 - 2:30p. Developing resilience is essential at every stage of life, but at no time more so than during the second half of life with its many biological, psychological, social and spiritual challenges. For all of us, the task is to maintain a hopeful and realistic vision of the aging process, one that takes into account both the light and the dark sides of aging without losing hope and descending into despair. Online library access to each program and DVDs of the formal presentations will also be made available. For more information, or to register for these programs, please contact me at 614.416.1920 or cbutler@oppeace.org.
NEW BROCHURE OFFERS OPTIONS FOR NATURAL FAMILY PLANNING INSTRUCTION: The Marriage and Family Life Office has created a brochure describing Natural Family Planning (NFP) Methods and Instruction available in the Diocese of Columbus. Options described in the brochure include diocesan small-group NFP workshops taught by diocesan-trained teachers, as well as individual and online options available from other NFP provider organizations. A color version of the brochure is attached; it may be freely reproduced by parishes (fits on standard 8.5 x 11 paper). To request print copies of the brochure (black ink on pastel paper), contact the Marriage and Family Life office at (614) 241-2560 or FLOMailbox@colsdioc.org.
