Cultural Domain Analysis Introduction: As we discussed, culture is influenced by multiple components that work both separately and together

to compose a complete identity of the culture. For this activity, you will explore the culture and setting of your concept by completing a domain analysis. Within the domain analysis, I want you to reflect the culture and setting of your concept by thinking about the elements that create culture the locations, people, ideas, and objects. To conduct this reflection, use the chart provided below to list as many details as you can for each of the four components of your culture/setting. The four components that you will reflect on include: 1. Locations & Events: Specific locations (i.e. nations, cities, districts, towns, buildings, architectural structures, rooms, et cetera) Significant events (historical) 2. People: Significant figures (historical) Important jobs or professions Subcultures (groups of people) 3. Ideas: Social ideas/ issues Cultural values and beliefs Political ideas Economy Cultural/social trends 4. Objects/Artifacts: Objects that have significance to your concept, such as, but not limited to: Clothing Food Art/Literature/Documents

Step 1: Look back at your timeline. Reread each entry, and as you do, account for all the locations, people, ideas, and artifacts that you see and list them in the appropriate areas in your domain analysis.

Step 2: Next, look back to your Domain Analysis and fill in the gaps. What did you leave out? What important locations, people, ideas, and artifacts are not accounted for?
