Project Report: Trade of Non-Basmati Rice - India

1. Position of India in Exporting Non-Basmati Rice


India is the world’s largest rice exporter, accounting for more
than 40% of global exports. In FY 2023–24, India exported
about 11.1 million tonnes of non-basmati rice, with an export
value of around USD 4.57 billion.

2. Growth Rate Analysis (Last 5 Years)


• 2019–2022: Exports grew strongly due to high global
demand.
• 2023: Export restrictions led to a temporary decline.
• 2024: Resumption of exports with new Minimum Export Price
(MEP).
