In the 1999 to 2001 WWF sealed its self as the king of Monday night. Some people alleged Vince McMahan to-have paid Kevin Nash to destroy WCW from inside, no coincide it was this storyline that he came to in Wow in the first place. In 2001 WWF bought WCW to conclude the Monday Night Wars. Some stars like Scott Steiner and Booker T were retained & others let go. How WWF became the King of Monday The 1996 Olympic gold medalist, Kurt Angle, The Rock (renamed from Rocky Maivia), and Mick Foley (as Mankind, Cactus Jack and Dude Love) were successfully re-invented to compete at the main event level. Notably, Mick Foley's WWF Championship win over The Rock on Monday Night Raw saw WCW lose millions of viewers when Eric Bischoff instructed announcer Tony Schiavone to give away the result minutes before both main events started, which led to Raw drawing a sensational eleven million viewers. RAW versus Nitro In March 2001, WWF Entertainment, Inc. acquired WCW from AOL Time Warner for a number reported to be around $7 million. By January 1998, the WWF began broadcasting more violence, swearing, and more edgy angles in its attempt to compete with WCW. Following Bret Hart's departure, Vince McMahon used the resulting backlash in the creation of his "Mr.

3|Page

McMahon" character, a dictatorial and fierce ruler who favored heels who were "good for business" over "misfit" faces like Austin. This, in turn, led to the Austin vs. McMahon feud, which, along with D-Generation X who briefly hired Mike Tyson in the build up to WrestleMania XIV, officially began the Attitude Era.It also featured the established Monday Night Wars, where both WCW and the WWF had Monday night shows that competed against each other in the ratings, and saw the WWF finally beat WCW for the first time in 84 weeks when McMahon made his in-ring debut against Austin. Stone Cold Steve Austin: He worked WWF/E from Mid 90's to 2003.Before leaving the WWE Kevin Nash aka diesel made the effort of convincing the higher administration to employ him. At the start he was being handled by the Million Dollar Corporation's Million Dollar Man (Ted Di Biase) under the ring name The Ringmaster, but was not getting the desired storylines. But once Million Dollar Man, Kevin Nash and Scott Hall aka Razor Ramon left WWE he started getting better work. Austin already a bald man naturally shaved his head to reinvent himself. In a program The Hour on CBC (Canadian broadcasting Corporation) hosted by George Stroumboulopoulos, Austin conceded that he was fired from WCW because of being unmarketable. Austin's actual rise to fame started at the 1996 King of the Ring. Austin began using his trademark finishing maneuver, the Stone Cold Stunner; with this latest move, he won the King of the Ring tournament. After beating Marc Mero in the semi-finals, Austin defeated Jake "The Snake" Roberts in the finals. Roberts was playing a bornagain Christian, so after the match, during his coronation said on e of the most famous words ever to e said in Wrestling entertainment , telling Roberts, "You sit there and you thump your Bible, and you say your prayers, and it didn't get you anywhere! Talk about your psalms, talk about John 3:16... Austin 3:16 says I just whooped youre ...............! This remarkable turnaround forced WWF to extend his contract. A big turning point in his career came when for the year 1997 he was out for a neck injury he sustained, putting him out of action for a year. When he did come back in 1998.he worked more hard (owing to the advice his step father gave him to finish what you start and do it properly so you dont have to come back again). Along with Hulk Hogan, he is the most popular wrestler of all time. Currently he stared in some episodes of Nash Bridges a detective Serial with Don Johnson (Miami Vice). He has been featured in the damned a movie with Vinnie Jones.

Mismanagement and Ethical Issues: Lawsuits:

Lesnar had before signed a no-compete clause for him to be removed from his contract with WWE, which stopped him from working for any other wrestling or mixed martial arts companies like Ultimate Fighting Championship before June 2010. Lesnar had predicted leaving wrestling completely, but his inability to make a career in National Football League led to him confronting this matter litigiously. WWE answered by demanding damages as a result of Lesnar allegedly breaching the agreement by appearing at a New Japan Pro Wrestling show in 2004. In July 2005, the two sides withdraw their claims and entered negotiations to renew their relationship. WWE had offered Lesnar a contract, but on August 2, 2005, WWE's official website reported that Lesnar had withdrawn from any involvement with the company. The lawsuit was then entered into settlement on September 21, but talks collapsed. On January 14, 2006, Judge Christopher Droney said that if WWE does not give him a good argument between then and January 25, he would rule in favor of Brock Lesnar, giving him a summary judgment In law, a summary judgment is a determination made by a court without a full trial, such a judgment may be issued as to the merits of an entire case, or of specific issues in that case1. This would have let Lesnar to work whenever and where ever he wants. WWE was later granted a deadline postponement. On April 24, World Wrestling Entertainment announced on their official website, that the two parties had jointly come to a decision and on June 12, a federal judge discarded Lesnar's claim against WWE after both parties requested for the case to be withdrawn. On December 6, WWE filed a motion for temporary halting Lesnar from continuing to work with NJPW, but the court did not grant it, and thus Lesnar had two non-title victories against Manabu Nakanishi and Yuji Nagata. Lesnar successfully defended his championship on January 4, 2006, against former champion Shinsuke Nakamura. On January 13, WWE once again filed an injunction against Lesnar to stop him from defending the IWGP Heavyweight Championship on March 19. Evidently this was not enforced, as he went on to have a tag team match with Shinsuke Nakamura against Akebono and Riki Chsh at the Sumo Hall on February 19, which was won after a Verdict to Chsh. On March 19, at the Sumo Hall, Lesnar retained his championship against former Sumo Wrestling Grand Champion Akebono when Lesnar hit him with the championship belt and DDT. Lesnar went on to successfully defend his title against the winner of the New Japan Cup, Giant Bernard, on May 3, 2006, in Fukuoka. This was the first American vs. American title match in NJPW since Vader vs. Stan Hansen in 1990.

Name dispute:
In 2000, the World Wide Fund for Nature sued the World Wrestling Federation (now named WWE) for unfair trade practices. Both parties had shared the initials "WWF" since 1979. The conservation organization claimed that the wrestling company had violated a 1994 agreement regarding international use of the WWF initials.

On August 10, 2001, an English court ruled in favor of the World Wide Fund for Nature. The World Wrestling Federation filed an appeal in October 2001. However, on May 5, 2002, the World Wrestling Federation changed its Web address from WWF.com to WWE.com,

Owen Hart accident:

Owen hart died in an in ring accident in May 1999. The event that he was involved was called Over the Edge at Kansas City. You cannot obtain a video version of the event. He was supposed to have a match for Intercontinental Championship with Godfather. Under this Blue Blazer gimmick Owen was going to come down from the stadium roof beam into the ring like Superman. Sting (Steve Borden) of WCW had before tried this entry method successfully. For hart it was not successful at all as he fell from roughly between 100 to 50 Feet around. There was an episode of Walker Texas Ranger featuring a similar theme, But with deliberation emphasized. In this case the management and Vince McMahon failed to act as democratic managers. When a performer with a renowned family background gets killed you should be Unselfish enough to postpone the event. This not being, it damaged the goodwill and reputation of the WWE Company in front of its diehard fans. The Hart family held responsible poor planning the reason and WWF paid 18 million to the relatives. What should be learned from this experience is that first you should be a risk taker and when you do you should plan in advance for any mishap. WWFs improvisation might have saved Millions of Dollars at that time but created future problems. Yes WWF is still the leading wrestling entertainment company. And things could have gotten a lout worse. By paying the hart family they displayed damage control skills.

Chris Benoit double murder suicide occurred over a three-day period ending on June 24, 2007, World Wrestling Entertainment professional wrestler Chris Benoit killed his wife, Nancy Benoit, strangled his seven-year-old son, Daniel, and subsequently hanged himself. Autopsy results showed that Benoit first murdered his wife, Nancy. She was bound at the feet and wrists and died of asphyxiation some time on Friday, Fayette County District Attorney Scott Ballard told a news conference. She was wrapped in a towel and some blood was found under her head but Ballard said there were no other signs of a struggle. The couple's son, who also died of asphyxia, was apparently killed as he lay in bed on Saturday morning, hours before Benoit hanged himself in his weight room. Benoit placed copies of the Bible alongside the bodies of his wife and son, as well as a Bible on his weight lifting machine. Since Benoit's suicide, numerous explanations for his actions have been proposed, including concussions, steroid abuse, and a failing marriage with his wife. The murder led to numerous media accounts and federal investigation into steroid abuse in professional wrestling. This is very touchy and unexplainable case. As per proof, Benoits autopsy indicated the presence of steroids specially used for muscle and testosterone growth. There is no doubt that they were subscribed by the organizations consent. WWE must take some responsibility for this matter. What we can say from observation is that Organizations in the Wrestling business have been known to abandon washed out stars. There should be consoling and supporting system. Former stars should be helped to get jobs as regular citizen. Organization like WWE can provide education programs for former Wrestlers so that they can be beneficial to the society.

Montreal Screwjob:

9|Page

Bret Hitman Hart was planning to depart from WWF in order to join WCW. The reason behind this dispatcher is not clear but many people quite of little reservation. One of them is the fact that WWF has Mr. Hart were not able to reach a contract between each other. One other insidious reason was prejudice that Mr. Mchmahon had. During event in Montreal in fall of 1997 Vince McMahon betrayed Bret, by changing the planed ending to disgrace him. The plan was executed when the match referee, Earl Hebner, under directions from McMahon, called for the bell to ring and ended the match as Michaels held Hart in the Sharpshooter submission hold (which was Hart's signature finishing move), even though Hart himself had not agreed to this finish. Michaels was declared the victor by submission and crowned as the new WWF Champion. It would mark the last of three WWF Championship matches between the two, having previously headlined the 1992 Survivor Series and Wrestle Mania XII together. With this scenario, another aspect of management is seen as far as Mr. McMahon is concern is shown. He is showing reward and punishment method of Management. He is also setting a very bad image of his company.

Sunday, December 6, 2009 The death of former WWE wrestler Umagas (real name Eddie Fatu) has sparked debates and discussion once again over how tough the sport of pro-wrestling is. Umagas is another on the list of many pro-wrestlers to have died way too young. Others include Owen Hart, Andrew "Test" Martin, and Eddie Guerrero, all of whom passed away before turning 40. The controversy is over the

HARTFORD, Conn.Connecticut Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Richard Blumenthal on Friday launched a new TV ad that accuses his Republican rival, former wrestling executive Linda McMahon, of working to kill steroid and drug testing laws in various states. The 30-second spot is among Blumenthal's most critical of McMahon, who was the CEO of World Wrestling Entertainment until last fall. Citing news articles and various state records, the ad accuses McMahon of hiring lobbyists to help her "duck taxes, kill steroid and drug testing laws, and avoid health and safety protections for her workers."

It takes the form of events, held by touring companies, which mimic a title match combat sport. The unique form of sport portrayed is fundamentally based on classical and "catch" wrestling, with modern additions of striking attacks, strength-based holds and throws, and acrobatic maneuvers; much of these derive from the influence of various international martial arts. An additional aspect of combat with improvised weaponry is sometimes included to varying degrees. Footnotes: - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Professional_wrestling

Conclusion:At first this organization started as a reneged organization. People thought of it as very brutal and inhuman. But know steadily it has evolved in to a lucrative business. The organization has been marred with controversies. Thought it is an ethical issue or a former wrestler disgruntled over the organization pulling the plugs on him, this is just nonstop. The enterprise has been constantly charged for spreading violence and obscenity. This is a fact that Children off all ages flock to watch WWE. But we are unable to calculate the psychological effect on them in the foreseeable future. The organization is always charged for having monopoly over the business. Actually the bottom line is we all know these facts but we still sit on the couch to watch Undertaker take on triple H or the big show dispose off a journeyman. This is all because WWE provides all round entertainment. Through its Entrance music, Wrestlers them selfs or the movies it produces.

Four Questions the reader will ask:-

12 | P a g e

Q1. Does WWE promote violence and obscenity in our society? Q2. Should children especially under the age of 15 watch WWE programs? Q3. What do you think that organizations like TNA explosion can take WWE place eventually? Q4. In WWE they focus too much on winning and not sportsman spirit dont you think it encourages cheating in the society?
