Swimming Pool Design Report

This report presents a sample design for a reinforced concrete swimming pool, suitable for
residential or recreational use. The design includes general dimensions, reinforcement details, and
structural considerations.

1. Design Specifications
- Type: In-ground reinforced concrete swimming pool
- Shape: Rectangular
- Dimensions: 10.0 m (length) × 5.0 m (width)
- Depth: 1.2 m (shallow end) to 1.8 m (deep end)
- Base Slab Thickness: 200 mm
- Wall Thickness: 200 mm
- Concrete Grade: C25/30
- Reinforcement Steel: High Yield Steel (fy = 460 N/mm²)

2. Reinforcement Details
- Base Slab Reinforcement: Y12 @ 150 mm c/c both ways (Top and Bottom)
- Wall Reinforcement: Vertical Y16 @ 200 mm c/c, Horizontal Y12 @ 200 mm c/c
- Additional Reinforcement: Extra Y16 bars provided around pool corners and at bottom-wall
junctions
- Cover to Reinforcement: 40 mm (exposed to water)

Component Thickness Main Reinforcement Spacing

Base Slab 200 mm Y12 (Top & Bottom) 150 mm c/c
Walls 200 mm Y16 (Vertical) 200 mm c/c
Walls 200 mm Y12 (Horizontal) 200 mm c/c

3. Structural & Construction Notes

- Waterproofing admixture to be added in concrete mix.
- Walls and slab to be cast monolithically to ensure water tightness.
- Pool interior finished with ceramic tiles (anti-slip for floor).
- Proper expansion joints with water stops to be provided.

Conclusion:
The above sample design provides a practical guide for a reinforced concrete swimming pool. It can
be adapted for site-specific soil conditions, groundwater table, and local construction practices.
Final design should always be checked and approved by a qualified structural engineer.
