Course Description
This course introduces students to early intervention and inclusive response strategies that
empower teachers to identify and address diverse learning, behavioral, and developmental
needs in classrooms. It equips future educators with practical “first aid” techniques using
the 4Rs model (Recognize, Respond, Refer, Record) aligned with SDG 4, UNCRPD, and
Nigeria’s National Policy on Inclusive Education (2021).

Course Objectives
1. Explain the principles and philosophy of inclusive education first aid.
2. Identify early signs of learning and developmental difficulties.
3. Apply classroom-based early response strategies using the 4Rs model.
4. Develop inclusive lesson plans and simple IEPs.
5. Collaborate with parents, peers, and professionals in supporting learners.
6. Demonstrate ethical, inclusive, and culturally sensitive practices.
