Question 29 34 are based on the following passage.

The Penang War Museum in Batu Maung on Penang Island is the countrys first war museum. It also has the distinction of being the largest war museum in Southeast Asia and the only one in the world to exist within a tropical rainforest. The museum, which sprawls across acres, was originally a World-War-II era British military defense fortress. It was built in anticipation of the need to defend Penang Island from a Japanese attack. Labourers and prisoners-of-war were employed to blast and dig into a hillside in the jungle. It took nine years to complete the installation. The fortress was a fully integrated complex comprising of underground tunnels, halls, offices, sleeping quarters, lockups, observation towers ad an infirmary to cater for the injured or sick. The complex also housed a bombproof command centre. The British lost the fortress to the Japanese in the late 1941. They made the mistakes of fully expecting an assault from the sea towards the west. Instead, the Japanese struck from the east after conquering the mainland of Malaya. The British defenders managed to evacuate to safety using an escape tunnel, All of the structures have been well maintained and are now part of the museum. Visitors can also see a display of cooking utensils and torture tools. Other artifacts of war are displayed in the barracks which housed the British, Malays and Indians of other ranks. A personal collection of photographs by James Tait, a prisoner-of-war, is also exhibited. Huge posters of Georgetown during the World War II and pictures of Penang Island during the nineteenth century are also displayed there, making the visitors feel as if they have been transported back in time.
