AN ADVANCED COLOR SENING ROBOTIC ARM OBJECTIVE

The main objective of this proposed project is to design and implement an color sensor based robotic arm in industrical machine vision application. The term robot comes from the Czech word robota, generally translated as "forced labor." This describes the majority of robots fairly well. Most robots in the world are designed for heavy, repetitive manufacturing work. They handle tasks that are difficult, dangerous or boring to human beings. Robotic arms are widely used in various kind of fields that require power, precision and also life risking. Machine vision is one of the upcoming technology which is mainly based on vision input. This project give us a edge to this technology where we identify different object of colors and do specific tasks based on the color input. In this proposed project we combine the color identification system and the robotic application together. We use advanced microcontroller for minimizing code complexity and interfacings. The robotic arm which we are designing will be a 3 axis robot with DC gear motors of 30 60 RPM. We can employ either an AVR or PIC controller for this. Also we use LED based colro sensor. When the user show Red color the robot will indicate the color and does a specific task, likewise for the Green color and Blue color. The outer robotic design will be done in thick foam sheets or soft wood with preceised mechanical measurements.

APPLICATIONS
The robotic arms are usually used in heavy duties work place, such as mining. It is already known that robotic arms are able to move and also lift an object that is human are never be able to lift, such as a giant rocks or a pile of woods. The robotics arms are also used in the medical field. It is used in the surgery that requires steady arm and also requires precise measurements. In the factory Robotic arms are used to assemble various kinds of products such as vehicles to the delicate thing such as motherboard for PC.

ADVANTAGES

FUTURE SCOPE
This project can be further enhanced into multi axial mode, with advanced sensor inbuilt within in for multiple industrial application and sensing. We can also enhance moves to wireless mode as well in future.
