    1.

    On 1 January 1980, En Abu opened a fixed deposit account with RM10 000. Interest at 5% of the amount standing in the account at the time is added each year on 1st January beginning from 1981. No withdrawals are made. Calculate the year in which there will be more than RM25 000 for the first time in the account after the interest has been added. (9 marks)

    The volume of water in a water storage tank in a residential area is 410 litres on the first day. Subsequently, 15 litres of water is added to the tank every day. Calculate the volume of water in litres in the tank at the end of the 8 th day. (6 marks)

    3.

    Calculate how many months Rosli will take to repay a debt of RM5800 by monthly payments of RM100 initially with an increase of RM20 for each month after that. (10 marks)
