Strategy Presentation Challenge (SPC) Semester One 2011 Rules & Regulations

1. To uphold the integrity of the competition and the results, all competitors must abide by the strictest standards of honesty and professional conduct. Any violation of competition rules will result in automatic disqualification. This competition is for postgraduate students at the GSBE only. If you have registered with any undergraduate or student from other faculty in your team without proper notification and approval, your team will be disqualified with immediate effect. th At least one of the participants should be present for the Launch on 18 March 2011. The client presentation will not be reordered. Communications: All important announcements and information will be distributed via e-mail address you provided. At the end of the preliminary round, the top team from each of the sub-groups will be selected for the final round.

Presentations: It is recommended that you use Microsoft PowerPoint for your presentation; if you use other software, be aware it may not supported by the Universitys IT system. The team can nominate one or more speakers for the presentation. There is no compulsion on all team members presenting. Participants should identify themselves by their respective team names.

Preliminary Round (25 March 2011, 3-6 pm) Presentation time - 15 minutes + 5 minutes (Q&A) All presentation slides for the first round should be e-mailed to mail@gsbesa.org by 6pm on Thursday, th 24 March 2011. Alterations may not be made to the presentations after submission. Teams may not sit in on any other presentations at their assigned venue. Teams should arrive at least 15 minutes before their allocated time slot for presentation. Teams must return to their assigned venue at 5:30 pm for the announcement of results.

Final Round (1 April 2011, 3-6 pm) Presentation time - 20 minutes + 10 minutes (Q&A) If the teams advance to the next round, the teams have to e-mail all presentation slides by 6pm on st Thursday, 31 March 2011. Alterations may not be made to the presentations after submission. An audience is allowed for the final round of presentations. Finalists may not sit in the presentation venue until they done their presentation. Teams should arrive at least 15 minutes before their allocated time slot for presentation.

GSBE SA representatives will be timing the presentations. Time guidelines will be strictly adhered to. During the presentation, teams will be notified when there are 5 minutes remaining and when there is 1 minute remaining. 7. Guidelines for participants: Teams are expected to conduct all necessary research through all publicly available resources. Plagiarism and Collusion will be penalised and the respective team can be disqualified at the discretion of the judging panel. The time and locations of the presentations will be communicated via email. Dress Code for both rounds is formal.

8. Panel of Judges & Evaluation: The Judging Panel will consist of professionals from academia, industry and KPMG. Judges will evaluate each team based on: o Key issues of the case o Depth of analysis in strategy formulation o Clarity of explanations o Practicality of recommendations o Overall delivery of presentation
