Country: French Republic or France Topic: Illiteracy France, officially French republic is the largest western-European country and

possesses the second largest exclusive economic zone in the world, covering 11,035,000km and has an estimated Population of 65,821,885. The French constitution states that it is the duty of the state to provide free, compulsory, secular education at all levels. The French school system was founded on General principles that were inspired by the 1789 revolution, built on and perfected By a set of legislative texts from the 19th century to the present day. The Literacy rate in France Is 99.0% But, France is plagued with the problem of underachievement, which in future can cause high illiteracy as compared to today. Excessive numbers of dropouts, a small population continuing on to higher education, and an increase in the unemployment rate of dropouts are all consequences with which illiteracy is associated as large numbers of lower and middle class French youth stop their schooling when they reach the limit of compulsory education at age sixteen. France will eventually extend to underachievement the economy and society itself because an undereducated student population inevitably becomes an undereducated workforce. The most obvious consequence that France Would face is the low levels of youth employment which would occur due to high drop-out rates, low test scores, and poor academic performance. France is currently trying to support education and curb the problem of underachievement. Also, France has recently signed a deal With the Indian Institute of Science And Indian Institute of technology, India (Republic Of India) To enhance the expansion of education sector. The French system is constantly being adapted and improved. France is approaching the future aggressively, working through their school system to achieve a more intelligent and internationally competitive France. Academic expenditures have also been increased sharply; educational programs and assistance are one of the largest items in the government's budget.Over the period 1975-1992, domestic expenditures on education fluctuated between 6.3 and 6.8 percent of gross domestic product (GDP), but increased in constant terms (at 1992 prices) from FF 292.5 billion to FF 460.6 billion, an average annual rate of growth of 2.5 percent. Total state spending on education in 1992 was FF 03 billion As seen by statistics, There is evidential Proof of Frances concern over literacy of the people. Thanking You, Yours truly,

Shubhangi Palriwal Delegate Of The French Republic.
