1 Before You Start

1.1 Application Scope

● This document applies to the upgrade of live-network SUN2000/SUN5000
MAP0 versions.

1.2 Version Requirements for Upgrade

Version Requirements
This document applies to the upgrade of live-network SUN2000/SUN5000 MAP0
versions. Before the upgrade, ensure that the following condition is met to prevent
future upgrade failures:

● The corresponding upgrade package for the SUN2000/SUN5000 MAP0 model

has been obtained.

Impact on Services
● During the upgrade, the SUN2000/SUN5000 MAP0 shuts down and stops
producing electricity. After the upgrade is complete, the SUN2000/SUN5000
MAP0 automatically starts and produces electricity in on-grid mode.
● When the SUN2000/SUN5000 MAP0 is being upgraded, the communication
with the mobile phone app and the management system is interrupted
temporarily and will be restored when the upgrade is complete.

1.3 Upgrade Precautions

1. During the remote upgrade over the management system, do not perform
local operations.

3 Preparing for the Upgrade

3.1 Preparing Software and Documents

3.1.1 Obtaining Upgrade Software and Tools

If you upgrade the SUN2000/SUN5000 MAP0 over the mobile app, obtain the
upgrade package from https://support.huawei.com/enterprise/.

3.1.2 Checking the Software Package Integrity

Check the package name and the number of files contained in the package after
obtaining it to see whether the package is tampered with or damaged during
transmission. The upgrade package can be used only after it passes the
verification. The upgrade package verifies itself during the upgrade. The following
lists the files in the upgrade package.

During the upgrade, ensure that the inverter is not powered off to reduce the
upgrade risks.

4 Performing the Upgrade

4.1 Upgrading the SUN2000/SUN5000 MAP0 over the

Mobile App
1. You can connect the mobile app to any model of SUN2000/SUN5000 MAP0
over WiFi and log in to the app to perform the upgrade.
NOTE

This section uses SUN2000MA_V200R024C00SPC100 as the source version. Before the

upgrade, apply for and download the upgrade package of the corresponding target
version from https://support.huawei.com/enterprise/.
2. When the upgrade progress reaches 100%, wait for the SUN2000/SUN5000
MAP0 to automatically restart.

4.1.1 Environment Setup

[Required device] Mobile phone
[Device requirements]
● Mobile phone operating system: Android 4.0 or later, iOS 8.0 or later
● Recommended phone brands: Huawei, Samsung, and iPhone
● The mobile phone supports the access to the Internet over a web browser.
● The mobile phone supports WiFi.
● The router supports WiFi (IEEE 802.11 b/g/n, 2.4 GHz) and the WiFi signal
reaches the inverter.
NOTE

The Android app and the iOS app are basically the same in terms of operations with slight
differences in interfaces. This document uses the Android app as an example to describe
how to upgrade the inverter.

4.1.2 Procedure
Step 1 Download and install the app.
Method 1: Download and install the app from the app store.

● Huawei mobile phone users: Search for "FusionSolar" at Huawei AppStore.

● iPhone users: Search for "FusionSolar" in the App Store.
● Other mobile phone users: Select method 2.

Method 2: Scan the QR code and download and install it.

NOTE

1. If you select mode 2, you can select a download path based on the mobile phone type.
● For Huawei mobile phone users, choose Huawei AppGallery.
● For non-Huawei mobile phone users, choose Browser to download.
2. Select Browser to download. If a message such as "This app is from an unofficial app
store..." is displayed during the installation, click Continue.

After the app is installed, the FusionSolar icon is displayed on the home screen.

Step 2 Download the inverter upgrade package.

Download the upgrade package from https://support.huawei.com/enterprise/,
and copy the upgrade package (not decompressed) to the root directory on the
memory of the mobile phone. For iOS, import the upgrade package into the app
over a mailbox.

NOTICE

Ensure that the upgrade package (not decompressed) has been saved to the root
directory on the memory of the mobile phone. Otherwise, the upgrade will fail.

Step 3 Connect the app to the inverter. After the connection is successful, access the
inverter list page.
● Method 1: Connect to the inverter directly from the mobile phone.
Run the app, tap the WLAN name of the inverter, and enter the WLAN
password to connect to the inverter.

Method 2: Scan the QR code to connect to the inverter.

If you log in for the first time and the initial WLAN password of the inverter is not
changed, you can scan the WLAN login QR code on the side of the inverter to
connect to the WLAN.

Step 4 Select a username (select Installer) and enter the password, and tap Log in.

Step 5 Tap Maintenance on the home screen.

Step 6 On the Maintenance screen, tap Upgrade to access the Inverter update screen.

Step 7 Tap Update in the Inverter upgrade area to access the Select upgrade package
screen. The app automatically scans the inverter upgrade package. You can also
tap From a local directory and specify the path of the inverter upgrade package.

Step 8 Select the upgrade package: Tap to select the upgrade package of the target
version and start the upgrade.

Step 9 Wait until the upgrade is complete and the Upgrade successfully message is
displayed.

NOTE

● If the communication times out, the activation progress will stay at a specific number
for a long time, and the system prompts that the upgrade fails.
● Ensure that the WiFi communication is stable during the upgrade. If you connect to the
inverter directly from the mobile phone, keep the mobile phone within 5 meters of the
inverter to ensure the communication quality.
● After the upgrade is successful, the inverter will reset. You need to reconnect the mobile
app to the inverter and log in again.

4.1.3 Verifying the Result

Log in to the app and tap Maintenance on the main menu screen. Then tap
Upgrade and check that the current version is the target version.

4.1.4 Troubleshooting
If the upgrade fails, repeat steps 7–9 and verify the result.

4.2 Upgrading the SUN2000/SUN5000 MAP0 over the

EMMA
1. You can connect the SUN2000/SUN5000 MAP0 to the EMMA and log in to
the app to perform the upgrade.
NOTE

This section uses SUN2000 MAP0 V200R024C00SPC100 as the source version. Before the
upgrade, apply for and download the upgrade package of the corresponding target version
from https://support.huawei.com/enterprise/.
2. When the upgrade progress reaches 100%, wait for the SUN2000 MAP0 to
automatically restart.

4.2.1 Environment Setup

[Required environment] Connect the FusionSolar app, mobile phone (Android or
iOS), and the device to be upgraded to the EMMA according to the instructions.
[Device requirements] The EMMA is powered on and started properly. The
FusionSolar app has been installed on the mobile phone and the application
permission has been enabled. The app can access the EMMA WiFi.
[Required device] a mobile phone
[Device requirements]
● Mobile phone operating system: Android 4.0 or later, iOS 8.0 or later.
● Recommended phone brands: Huawei, Samsung, and iPhone
● The mobile phone supports the access to the Internet over a web browser.
● The mobile phone supports WiFi.
● The router supports WiFi (IEEE 802.11 b/g/n, 2.4 GHz) and the WiFi signal
reaches the SUN2000 MAP0 .

4.2.2 Procedure

After the app is installed, the FusionSolar icon is displayed on the home screen.

Step 2: Download the SUN2000 MAP0 upgrade package.

Download the upgrade package from https://support.huawei.com/enterprise/，

Copy the upgrade package (without decompressing it) to the root directory of the
phone memory. For the iOS operating system, the downloaded upgrade package
needs to be imported to the app through the mailbox.

NOTICE

The upgrade package file (not decompressed) must be stored in the root directory
of the phone memory. Otherwise, the upgrade will fail.

Step 3: Connect to the EMMA. After the connection is successful, the EMMA list
page is displayed.
● Manner 1: Directly connect the phone to the EMMA.
Run the app, tap the Wi-Fi name of the EMMA, and enter the Wi-Fi password
to connect to the EMMA.

Manner 2：Scan the QR code with your phone to connect to EMMA.

If you log in to the EMMA for the first time and the Wi-Fi password of the EMMA
is not changed, you can scan the Wi-Fi login QR code on the side of the EMMA to
connect to the Wi-Fi network of the EMMA.

Step 4: Select the user name and enter the password (the installer logs in and
enters the correct password), and click the "Login" button to enter the operation
console interface.

Step 5: Select Maintenance on the Operation console screen.

Step 6: On the Device Maintenance page, click Upgrade. The Upgrade page is
displayed.

Step 7: Select the SUN2000 MAP0 device and the upgrade file, and click Next.

Step 8: After the upgrade package is transferred, a dialog box is displayed, asking
you the upgrade mode.

Step 9: Select Activate Now or Upgrade Now. After the upgrade task is created,
the following dialog box is displayed.

Step 10: Click OK. The device upgrade progress page is displayed.

Step 11: When the upgrade progress reaches 100%, the upgrade is complete.

Perform the preceding steps to complete an immediate upgrade task for a single
device.
If the installer needs to delay the upgrade for a period of time due to device
installation, the installer can choose to delay the activation or upgrade in step 8.
In this case, the EMMA automatically starts the countdown in the background. By
default, the EMMA starts to upgrade the specified device 4 hours later. The
following message is displayed when the delayed upgrade starts.

4.2.3 Verifying the Result

If the EMMA is upgraded, wait until the EMMA restarts, log in to the app and
connect to the EMMA again. Check whether the current software version is the
target version.
If the device to be upgraded is a southbound device managed by the EMMA, wait
for a while after the upgrade is complete and go to the upgrade screen again to
check whether the device is successfully upgraded to the target version.
Step 1: Follow Step 1 to Step 7 in 5.2.2 to access the device upgrade screen and
expand the device details to view the current version of the device.

4.2.4 Troubleshooting
Troubleshoot according to this section if the following problems occur when you
connect the app to the EMMA WiFi and upgrade devices.

● Scenario 1: The app displays a message indicating that the activation or

upgrade is delayed, and the progress bar is 0% or 100%.

Note: If this message is displayed above the upgrade progress bar, the device
automatically enters the delayed activation state because the current working
conditions do not meet the immediate upgrade conditions. By default, the device
will be upgraded four hours later.

Operation: Disconnect the WiFi. The upgrade task will be automatically processed
in the backend of the EMMA. If you want to cancel the delayed upgrade task, you
can deliver a new upgrade task on the upgrade screen.

● Scenario 2: When the device is connected to the EMMA on the app and an
upgrade task is delivered, a message is displayed, indicating that an upgrade
task is in the delayed state.

Note: This message indicates that a delayed upgrade task exists in the backend of
the EMMA. A delayed upgrade task can be triggered in either of the following
conditions:

a. You have delivered a delayed upgrade task by following related steps in 5.2.2.

b. The upgrade conditions are not met or the upgrade fails for devices that
undergo immediate upgrade.

Operation: Handle the issue according to the current upgrade requirements. There
are two scenarios:
a. If you want to deliver a new upgrade task, tap Continue. After receiving the
new upgrade task, and the EMMA automatically stops the existing delayed
upgrade task.
b. If you cancel the new task, the EMMA will execute the existing delayed upgrade
task until the task times out seven days later or all devices are successfully
upgraded.
● Scenario 3: For the first connection to the EMMA on the app, a message is
displayed, indicating that the xxx device can be used only after being
upgraded.

Note: After the app is connected to the device, it automatically obtains the latest
version. If the current version is earlier than the latest version, the preceding
dialog box is displayed.
Operation: Tap Update and perform operations as prompted to upgrade the
device.
Follow steps in 5.2.2 to perform immediate upgrade or delayed upgrade as
required.
If you delay the upgrade, the system does not prompt you to upgrade the device
to the latest version when you connect to the EMMA next time.
● Scenario 4: EMMA delayed upgrade state
1. After the upgrade package is uploaded, you can select Upgrade delay to
trigger upgrade delay. This method is applicable to the scenario where the
installer installs the device for the first time.
2. When Update Now is selected on the app, the device cannot be upgraded
because the immediate upgrade conditions are not met or communication
exceptions occur. In this case, the EMMA automatically switches the device to
delayed upgrade state.
In other upgrade scenarios, if other messages are displayed on the app, perform
operations as prompted.
If the device is not upgraded to the latest version, perform the upgrade again until
the device is upgraded to the target version.

4.3 Upgrading the SUN2000/SUN5000 MAP0 over the

Management System
1. All SUN2000/SUN5000 MAP0 versions on the live network can be upgraded
using the management system.
NOTE

● When you upgrade the SUN2000/SUN5000 MAP0 over the management system,
the latest upgrade package is stored on the management system. You do not need
to obtain the upgrade package.
2. When the upgrade progress reaches 100%, wait for the SUN2000/SUN5000
MAP0 to automatically restart.

4.3.1 Environment Setup

[Required devices] Computer, SDongleA/EMMA, SUN2000/SUN5000 MAP0, power
cable, and network cable

[Device requirements] The SUN2000/SUN5000 MAP0 and SDongleA/EMMA are

powered on and communicate with each other properly. A computer is connected
to the network.

4.3.2 Procedure
Step 1 Open a browser, enter the address of the management system [https://
cn.fusionsolar.huawei.com/ (Chinese mainland) or intl.fusionsolar.huawei.com
(other regions)] to go to the management system. Enter the username and
password to log in.

NOTE

● This document uses https://cn.fusionsolar.huawei.com/ as an example. The actual

management system connected to the inverter may vary.
● If you do not have a username, register an installer account and then log in.
● Chrome 79, Firefox ESR 68, and later versions are recommended.

Step 2 On the home page of the FusionSolar, choose Plants > Update Management.

NOTE

Before upgrading a device, ensure that the plant has been created and the device can be
found in the management system.

Step 3 On the Update Management page, click Device Upgrade to query the upgrade
information about devices of the plant.

Step 4 Click Create on the Device Upgrade page. Set Device type to Inverter, set the
plant type, and select the target device and version. After all options are set, click
OK to upgrade the device.

Step 5 View the upgrade result. After the upgrade is complete, the inverter restarts and
the upgrade result is displayed in Update Task.

4.3.3 Verifying the Result

On the Update Management page, check whether the SUN2000/SUN5000 MAP0
is upgraded to the target version.

4.3.4 Troubleshooting
If the upgrade fails, repeat steps 4–6 in 4.3.2 Procedure and verify the result.
