Summer vacation is on doors so plan it, yet be careful its a hot weather out there. Being a student at SQU is an honor. Its a common ground that if you are a graduate from SQU, a promising future is awaiting for you. However, this is might not be the case with the ECHE (Early Childhood Education) graduates. Job opportunities for them are invalid. They are desperate. As ECHE graduates declared we are lost and our future is all a mess. Attention and appreciation are what they are calling for. The issue grabbed Fatma Al Shaqsi and Dhufra Al Kharousis attention and that is why its highlight it in our cover story. In the last issue, H!SQU had announced the creative writing competition. We were thrilled that a great number of writings occupied H!SQU mail till the last day of submission. Thank you all for your participation and the rst three winners are announced today. Turn the pages quickly to see if you have won. For those who didnt win, keep up the good work. You are still doing great. Well, every one of us is talented in a way or anotherYou just need to ask yourself what makes you thrilled and satised? It might be singing, drawing or might be dancing? Why not? So if you havent discovered yours yetgive it a shot and start looking for one. For the time being, look at Fatma Al-Lawatis impressive talent in Creativity Glimpse. Being a mother is the hardest earthly mission ever, yet its the most enjoyable and interesting one Ibtihal AL-Saadi has a few words in Mothers Voice As H!SQU always impresses its readers with variety of topics, this issue holds a new amusing section. Since we all pursuit to look good and stylish, we have decided to have a section which discusses the latest fashions and designs among young people whether on campus or off campus. Samiya Al-Mamari takes the chance to share some students perspectives on fashion. Your comments and opinions about this section are welcomed and the H!SQU team is looking for your substantial remarks. Leaving SQU after 5 years, is very difcult No more of waking up in the early morning to go for classes, no more group studies which always ends up with off topic discussionsand no more participating in activities and celebrating the success of astonishing events that are organised by students who are actually your best friends. A Glance of an Eye! That is Asad Al Hadidis description of his experience at SQU as a student. Cheers till we meet next time

VAGUE DESTINATION BEYOND GRADUATION

When the ECHE program was founded as one of College of Educations specialisations, it was upon measured and well-thought-of plans .This major is highly imperative in any society since the graduates contribute in raising the generation who will be the manufacturer of the future. However, after the rst cohort of graduates exposed to society proudly with their BSc degree, insistent complaints started to rise up and make a fuss! Fatma Al Shaqsi & Dhufra Al Kharousi shed a light on the issue to nd out more about it.
What is the whole complaint about?
Dr. Hussein Al Kharousi, Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Studies in the College of Education, asserted that chances of employment are available plentifully for ECHE graduates; however, the refusal to take these jobs is because of the low salary. Obviously, there is no consideration for BSc since they are treated equally to others with lower degree. Regrettably, there is no appreciation for the academic level of those students. Another problem that ECHE students complain about is the lack of jobs in the governmental sector. Dr. Al Kharousi says, Kindergartens are not part of the governmental educational ladder, the ministrys role is just to supervise them, which force ECHE graduates to look for jobs in the private sector; leading again to the former problem of income and salary. Another outcry that ECHE graduates have revealed is the ill-treatment they get from employers, who do not acknowledge them as teachers as those of other specialisations. Moreover, foreign teachers are preferred in the International Private Schools although ECHE graduates have the same abilities as any foreign teachers and they sometimes might be better than them.

Students and parents attitude

It might be shocking that most parents do not encourage their daughters to join this specialisation. Kamla A Rawahi, ECHE graduate, admitted that her parents were against the idea they were afraid from the beginning that I will be treated like those who graduated from other institutions with lower degrees, says Kamla, and actually that is whats currently happening. Kamla argued that ECHE graduates are more qualied than any others in their
