1-READING
For many people, travelling by train is just a convenient way to get from one
city to another. However, in recent years, train journeys have become a
popular choice not only for their efficiency but also for the experience they
offer. Unlike planes, trains usually depart from the city centre, which saves
travellers both time and money. In addition, passengers can walk around,
enjoy larger seats, and admire the scenery from their windows.
In Europe, new high-speed trains have transformed the way people travel. For
example, in Spain, the AVE connects cities like Madrid, Seville, and
Barcelona in just a few hours. These trains are not only fast but also
environmentally friendly, as they produce far less pollution than cars or planes.
For many young travellers, this is an important factor when choosing their
transport.
Despite these advantages, there are also challenges. Tickets can be expensive,
especially if you don’t book early. In some countries, trains are often delayed,
which causes frustration for passengers. Moreover, in regions with poor rail
infrastructure, buses or planes are still more reliable.
Nevertheless, surveys show that train travel continues to grow in popularity.
Many people see it as a more relaxing and sustainable option. As technology
develops further, it is likely that trains will become even faster and more
comfortable, making them an increasingly attractive alternative for future
generations.
