1. OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:


To effectively carry out planning, coordinating and supervision of Operation activities both production and
maintenance as they arise on his shift, so that shift production quality and volume targets are achieved
without jeopardizing any of the QCDSM agenda.

2. KEY TASK:
i) To conduct and participate in the designated line/Mini Business Area (MBA) Shift review Meetings that hold
15 minutes before the start of the shift.
ii) Ensure roll call of staff, attendance, punctuality and PPE application or distribution. Any other issues or
threat to performance and action points.
iii) To properly carry out shift changeovers (operatives, equipment and state of environment) in line with shift
changeover procedure with his counterpart on the preceding and incoming shifts.
iv) Effective manning of workstation adherence to safety practice - machine guarding, devices, work place
organisation. Waste disposal - edible and inedible.
v) To maintain a high standard of performance in his area of work in terms of equipment optimal utilization, and
the product quality.
vi) To ensure that all equipment are operated according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
vii) To enforce safety rules and GMP compliance during his shift.
viii) To maintain high standard of hygiene.
ix) To maintain a high standard of machine care in terms of the appearance and state of the equipment
(production related or not).
x) Housekeeping-shop floor arrangement, workstation cleanliness, proper handling of cleaning equipment.
xi) Safety - adherence to right colour codes, proper guarding of equipment, functionality of safety switches,
spotting of hazards and elimination. Finish product arrangement/pallet stacking HYGIENE - equipment,
personnel and environmental cleaniness, GMP adherenece, etc.

3. KEY RESULTS (KEY PERFORMANCE INDICES – KPIs):


3.1 QUALITY
i) Ensure adherence to all qaulity parameters (quality checks and leading indicators).
ii) Achievement of product quality targets for the line on his shift for his area of control– (unwrapped sweets or
wrapped sweets or bagged/finished product.
iii) Achievement of the required level of hygiene and cleanliness of the surroundings of the production area in
which he supervise.
iv) Achievement of the required level of hygiene and cleanliness of shop floor and equipment under his control.

v) Enforce high level of adherence to the equipment deep cleaning and preventive maintenance schedules during
his shift.
vi) Ensure deep cleaning and preventive maintenance activities on all equipment are carried out within the
standard time.
3.2 COST
i) Reduction in waste of product, flavour, packaging material.
ii) Minimisation of unplanned downtime on all equipment under his control.
iii) Effect line optimization, equipment throughput, line availability and utilization.
vi) Enforce correct utilization of PPE and other tools on the shop floor

3.3 DELIVERY
i) Achievement of shift production targets for the area in which he control.
ii) Supervision of all cleaning and maintenance activities.
iii) Strictly enforce compliance of all SOPs and guidelines.
iv) Good rapport with machine operators, and staff of the service departments (e.g. electrical, instrumentation,
logistics, etc).
v) Liaise with QC, Procces and Engineer for prompt attention to issues. Facilitate line optimisation by prompt
resolution of breakdowns etc. identify opportunities and quick wins for achievement of the balanced agenda.

1. OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:


To effectively carry out planned maintenance activities and corrective maintenance activities (e.g. attend to
breakdowns) as they arise on his shift, so that in the short-term, shift production quality and volume targets
are achieved, and so that in the long term equipment/assets are properly cared for. This will be manifested by
very high levels of equipment availability and performance.

2. KEY TASK:
i) To participate in the designated line/Mini Business Area (MBA) Shift review Meetings that hold 15 minutes
before the start of the shift.
ii) To properly carry out shift changeovers in line with shift changeover procedure with his fellow technicians
on the preceding and incoming shifts.
iii) To maintain a high standard of performance of the equipment in his area of work in terms of minimizing the
number of breakdowns that occur, and the amount of unplanned downtime that is incurred.
iv) To effectively carry out the planned maintenance work and inspections assigned to him by ensuring that the
Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) is adhered to, and that the correct parts and lubricants are used on the
equipment.

v) To promptly and effectively attend to any equipment breakdowns on his shift, ensuring that they have a
minimal impact on the realization of the production, quality and waste targets of the shift.
vi) To promptly and effectively attend to any equipment problems by applying the correct trouble shooting
procedures
vii) To carry out accurate and complete documentation where it is required of him, e.g. Equipment Malfunction
Report and Maintenance Shift Report.
viii) During his shift, to maintain a high standard of performance of all equipment (production related or not) in
terms of their ability to carry out their expected functions.
ix) To maintain a high standard of machine care in terms of the appearance and state of the equipment
(production related or not).
x) To contribute meaningfully to continuous improvement of the equipment, processes and operations of the
line, particularly via active participation in Small Group Activities (SGAs), and regular feedback on issues to
the managers.
xi) To be involved in the implementation and continuous upgrading of the planned preventive maintenance
programme when required to do so.
xii) To ensure that all equipment is operated according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
xiii) To ensure that his maintenance activities on any machine do not take longer than the standard time.
xiv) To ensure that machine breakdowns are attended to promptly and effectively with minimal impact on the
realization of production targets.
xv) To maintain a high standard of machine performance in terms of volume and quality of output.
xvi) To maintain a high standard of machine performance in terms of minimizing the number of breakdowns that
occur, and the amount of unplanned downtime that is incurred.
xvii) In conjunction with equipment operators, to maintain a high standard of machine care in terms of the
appearance and state of the equipment.
xviii) To assist the Unit Engineer to carry out on-the-job coaching and instruction of machine operators, and other
users of the plant equipment.

3. KEY RESULTS (KEY PERFORMANCE INDICES – KPIs):


3.1 QUALITY
i) Achievement of product quality targets for the line on his shift for his area of control– (unwrapped sweets or
wrapped sweets or bagged/finished product.
ii) Achievement of the required level of hygiene and cleanliness of the surroundings of the production area in
which he works.
iii) Achievement of the required level of hygiene and cleanliness of all tools and accessories used by him/her.
iv) Achievement of the required level of hygiene and cleanliness of all maintenance work-related areas (e.g.
workbenches, workshop areas and surroundings).
v) Achievement of the required level of hygiene and cleanliness of all equipment and machines used on the line.

vi) High level of adherence to the Deep cleaning and preventive maintenance schedules of the equipment.
vii) Deep cleaning and preventive maintenance activities on all equipment to be carried out within the standard
time.

3.2 COST
i) Achievement of waste targets for the line on his shift – packaging, edible, wrapped and inedible wastes.
ii) Minimisation of unplanned downtime on all equipment – so that all downtime is kept below the standard
level.
iii) Make correct use of tools and equipment.

3.3 DELIVERY
i) Achievement of shift production targets for the area in which he works.
ii) Carry out some level of supervision of all cleaning and maintenance activities.
iii) Strictly comply with all maintenance SOPs and guidelines
iv) Good rapport with shift operations managers, team leader, other group leaders, machine operators, other
departmental staff, staff of the service departments (e.g. electrical, instrumentation, logistics, etc), and anyone
else who deals with the line or the department.
v) Cooperate with the machine operators to ensure that they keep accurate records for their equipment during
their shift.

3.4 SAFETY
i) Proper personal in terms of use safety kits and apparel – clothing, boots, earplugs, and hand gloves.
ii) Non- occurrence of any safety–related incidents.
iii) In conjunction with other production personnel, ensure good house keeping in all areas.

3.5 MORALE
i) Achievement of a very low level of unauthorized absenteeism– according to standard.
ii) Cooperate with team members and work better together. Be a team player.
iii) Cooperate with your group leader. Listen to instructions.

5. LIMITS OF AUTHORITY:
i) He cannot implement any disciplinary action for any member of staff.
ii) He cannot sign a Medical Clinic Visitation for any member of staff.
iii) He cannot ask a member of staff on the line to work extra hours. If he feels there is a case for it because of
some peculiar situations, he can suggest this to his group leader or supervising manager.
iv) He can suggest action, but not purchase parts or modify any machine without the consent of Technical Group
Leader, or Unit Engineer.
v) If there is a strong case for it, he can recommend an alteration to the sequence for the deep clean and
maintenance schedule of machines.

6. GENERAL:
It is important for the person whose job this document describes to realise that job descriptions are not fixed,

improvement and plant upgrades.
It is extremely important to carry along all stakeholders when carrying out any maintenance-related work, or

1. OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:


To responsibly operate and care for his equipment in such a way that it is able to consistently/reliably produce syrup/sugar
mass that meet all the laid down quality parameters (see Quality Standards), and is of a quantity that is no less than the
volume targets (see Production Standards) of his machine for that shift, without exceeding the waste standards for the
machine.

2. KEY TASK:
i) To participate in the designated line/area Shift Review Meetings that holds 15 minutes before the start of the shift.

ii) To properly carry out shift changeovers on his machine in line with shift changeover procedure with his colleagues on the
preceding and incoming shifts.
iii) To carry out a shift clean on his equipment and environment.
iv) Ensure that he uses raw materials of the right quality for continuous production, to ensure that he meets his production,
quality, and waste targets for his equipment for that shift.
v) To operate his machine according to Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).
vi) To carry out deep cleaning and maintenance on his machine at the designated time.
vii) To ensure that his shift cleaning, and deep cleaning & maintenance activities on his machine do not take longer than the
standard time, unless there is a compelling reason for such, e.g. corrective maintenance on a discovered fault.

viii) To maintain a high standard of performance of his machine in terms of minimizing the number of breakdowns that occur,
and the amount of unplanned downtime that is incurred.
ix) To carry out effective planned maintenance by ensuring that the Standard Operating Procedure is adhered to, and that the
correct parts and lubricants are used on his machine.
x) To promptly and effectively attend to any breakdowns on his machine, ensuring that they have a minimal impact on the
realization of his production, quality and waste targets.

iii) Deep cleaning and preventive maintenance of his machine during his shift when it falls due.
iv) Deep cleaning and preventive maintenance activities on his machine to be carried out within the standard time.

3.2 COST
i) Achievement of waste targets for his machine during his shift.
ii) Achivement of the required product targets
-Line 1 and 2 average speed of 1.1Tonnes per hour
-Line 6 and 7 average speed of 0.9 Tonne per hour.

iii) Minimisation of unplanned downtime on all equipment – so that all downtime is kept below the standard level.

iv) Efficient and proper operation of the cooker in terms of machine availability, and the matching of variables such as
machine speed, cooling temperature, plough adjustment and the quality of mass discharge at the batch former end.

v) Ensure proper lubrication of gearboxes, bearings and all moving parts as per SOP and maintenance schedule

vi) Ensure ALL items in start-up checklist are checked and certified OK before startup. Avoid false and miscalculated start

3.3 DELIVERY
i) Achievement of production targets for his machine during his shift.
ii) Achievement of OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) and its inputs such as machine availability, machine performance
and machine quality levels.
iii) Always ensure that you know through Group Leader or Manager What you are expected to deliver Daily and Weekly.

iv) You are expected to work collaboratively with Team Leader To deliver your Daily and Weekly Volume

3.4 SAFETY

Fitter operators are presently meant to go through a basic technical programme at the Technical Training School. This
programme covers some basic engineering skills – mostly mechanical oriented. It is planned that in the near future, fitter
operators will go through a technical training programme that will make them more cross functional.
