I recently read The Silent Echo by author X, which, unfortunately, left

me feeling deeply disappointed. The premise had great potential — a
psychological thriller centred around a woman with amnesia trying to
uncover the truth about her past. However, the execution fell flat in
several ways.

First, the pacing was inconsistent. The story dragged in parts where I
expected intense developments, and then, when action finally
arrived, it felt rushed and underdeveloped. The plot twists, which
should have been the book’s strength, were overly predictable and
lacked the shock factor that the genre promises. The characters,
particularly the protagonist, were one-dimensional, which made it
hard to care about their struggles. Her motivations seemed forced
and inconsistent, leaving me frustrated rather than empathetic.

The writing itself felt overly simplistic at times, lacking the depth that
could have brought the story to life. The dialogue felt stilted and
unnatural, failing to create the tension necessary for a thriller.
Ultimately, The Silent Echo was more of a missed opportunity than a
gripping read. I had hoped for a compelling exploration of memory
and identity, but instead, I got a forgettable and frustrating
experience. This one is definitely not worth the time.
