In years past, RBIA/ TPIA has conducted an Annual 50/50 Labor Day Raffle. This year, we have decided to put a different spin on things, by raffling off gift certificates, and products donated to us by local businesses. The value of the prizes exceeds the value of what was won in last years 50/50 raffle. Enclosed in this newsletter you will find 15 tickets for our Annual Labor Day Raffle and a flyer listing the prizes. Tickets are very reasonably priced at $5.00 / 5 Tickets. This is a major source of income for our association and we are encouraging each household to sell a minimum of 10 raffle tickets. Please be sure to support the businesses who have donated to our Labor Day Raffle. A list of donors can be found on the last page of this newsletter, on the raffle flyer, or on our website. **Please return all unused tickets! If you would like to obtain more tickets, please call Kevin McDonough (410)-780-0461

Community Clean-Up / Dumpster Day

In the fall, our community will take part in a Community Clean -Up program sponsored by Baltimore County. This program provides communities with dumpsters free of charge for the disposal of general household trash, that is often too big for weekly trash pickup. The program will allow our community to receive three roll -off dumpsters on a Saturday morning (7am-12pm) to be placed at a central location within the community. Along with the county sponsored Dumpster Day, we will also be taking part in Project Clean-Stream. Project Clean Stream encourages community members to get out and cleanup their local beaches, waterways, and parks. The date for the event will be announced once our program application is approved by Baltimore County. At that time, signs will be posted, a flyer will be distributed and it will be posted to the website. If interested in volunteering contact Kevin McDonough.

Welcome Committee
This year, we have established a new Welcoming Committee, designed to present new residents to the community with a welcome gift compliments of the Improvement Association. We feel that is imperative to the prosperity of our community to establish good relationships with new residents. It is our hope that this gift will serve as a visual reminder of how kind, and hospitable that the residents of the Turkey Point Peninsula are. Thanks to Carole Ledley, Darlene Baugher, Marcy Siegman, and Kevin McDonough for your work on the Welcoming Committee!

Proposal to Re-Name Bauernschmidt Manor Park

The Jackie Nickel Memorial Committee( not affiliated with the RBIA/TPIA) has drawn up a proposal to re-name Bauernschmidt Manor Park in honor of our very own, Jackie Nickel. The proposal calls for the installation of a flagpole and small brick monument on the pie shaped parcel of the park at the intersection of Turkey Point Rd. and Bauernschmidt Drive. The committee also wishes to landscape that portion of the park, to create a beautiful gateway to our community. The proposal calls for all funds for the project to be solicited by private donation, so as to have a minimal impact on the Dept. of Rec. and Parks budget. The Jackie Nickel Memorial Committee has hopes to submit the proposal to Baltimore county by the end of this fiscal year, after they have finished hammering out any last minute details to the plan. RBIA/TPIA has presented the Jackie Nickel Memorial Committee with a letter of support for the project as we feel it will significantly enhance the image of our community. The Holly Neck Conservation Association, Back River Neck Peninsula Community Association, and New Haven Woods HOA have also sent letters to the committee supporting the proposal. RBIA/TPIA members wishing to review a copy of the proposal may contact any of the board members listed on the front cover of this newsletter for a copy. Anyone who would like to join the Jackie Nickel Memorial Committee may contact Mr. Keith Roberts at lkeithroberts@gmail.com
