SURREALISM
Surrealism is a cultural movement and artistic style that was founded in 1924 by Andre Breton. Surrealism style uses visual imagery from the subconscious mind to create art or represent the idea in unique realistic language. The movement was begun primarily in Europe, centered in Paris, and attracted many of the members of the Dada community, also Some peoples believe that surrealism developed out of the Dada activities during World War I.

ART MOVEMENT
I believe, to understand any art movement you should have the clear understanding of art history, that why and how these art movements begin? Or in other words what is mean by art movement? People and a group of peoples want to express their feeling in that way which fill full their requirement of their concepts and idealize their philosophy and ideology. So, an art movement is a tendency or style in art with a specific common philosophy or goal which is followed by a group of artists during a restricted period of time.

SURREALISM A style of art and literature developed principally in the 20th century, in which fantastic visual imagery from the subconscious mind is used with no intention of making the artwork logically comprehensible. Involves fantasy & dreams Is illogical Stresses the subconscious Automatism to allow your subconscious mind to take over in your art. Demented sense of humor

Most of the Dada artists joined the Surrealist movement, in that case many of Dadaistic ideas and visual imagery style transferred in surrealism, also it used Dada techniques to release the unconscious although the Dadaism was said to be anti art movement. Surrealism concern with exploration of ways to express in art the world of dreams and the unconscious. After the world war I many of the people want to change their life philosophically, so the most of the surrealist were inspired by Freud and Jung. And eventually they were success to find their way and they build their interest in the nature of

dreams. They said, in dreams, people moved beyond the constraints of society and the artists role is to bring inner and outer reality together

Two forms of Surrealism: Surrealism was build up in two different form(ways), one is known as Biomorphic (those surrealist interested in life forms) the famous surrealist from biomorphic is Joan Miro. And the other form is known as Naturalistic(recognizable scenes of nightmare or dream images) famous artist are Rene Magritte, Salvador Dali
