Monthly Newsletter of St. Peter School

July 2012
From the Principal

Dear friends,

Embracing the KEYS to success: Faith, Knowledge, and Unity

I hope the summer break has been both restful and refreshingand is not passing by too quickly for you! The first day of school is about a month away! Im very excited about the coming school year. While families and children have been enjoying their summer with good rest and fun, we have been busy planning for some great things to come during the SPS 2012-2013 year.

SPS Faculty Additions!

We are excited to announce those joining the SPS Faculty:
Mrs. Rebecca Cormier is the new Kindergarten teacher. Rebecca is a native of Jennings and one of Gueydans newest residents, having married Brandon Cormier at St. Peter Church this summer. Welcome, Mrs. Rebecca!

As you will notice in this newsletter, we have completed a good number of changes and adjustments to our school life, and Im certain theyll help us to exceed last years incredible success!

The joy of teaching the students entrusted to us and forming them in the Catholic Faith is difficult to express. We welcome two new members of the faculty who will join us at SPS in that joy.

Our need for more students continues. Please pray for an increase in enrollment! May the Lord continue to bless the work of our hands. Thank you for your faithful prayers and support. Heres to another successful school year to come!

Ms. Jill Simon returns to her Alma Mater part time to teach the middle school English classes. Were happy to have her back on the SPS campus and in the classroom!

Announcing: SPS Main Street Market!

St. Peter School is excited to invite you to its first annual Main Street Market, being held in conjunction with the SPS Bazaar and Antique Tractor and Lawnmower Pull. So this is what we need from you: Tell Everyone! Get the Word Out! This year, the SPS Bazaar will be spilling out into the streets of Gueydan in the form of a crafts fair. The SPS Main Street Market will be open to all local artists and crafts makers. Tell all of your talented friends and relatives about this great event. It is as simple as renting a space, setting up a 10X10 tent, and displaying their items for sale. Vendors will keep all proceeds. Booth spaces will be available for rent for a fee of $40 per 1010 space. No food booths pleaseour SPS families will be serving up all of your favorites! It is important to get the word out and promote the event now, so vendors will have time to prepare. In addition, we have begun a list of vendors from the surrounding area. So, if you attend local events or crafts fairs and see vendors who you feel would be a great addition to our Main Street Market, get their business card or information and forward it to the office so invitations can be extended to them. All vendors registered before September 7th will be listed on event advertisement. For more information, or to book a space and pay the rental fee online, visit, http://spsgueydan.org. As always it will be family friendly with great food, old fashioned games, rides, and of course the Annual Antique Tractor and Lawnmower Pull. Thank you for you continued support of St. Peter School.
