Roth, MD, MS Office of the Chancellor for Health Sciences Mscos 5300 1 University of New Mexico Albuquerque, New Mexico 87131-5001 Dear Mr. Roth, As a proulife leader in New Mexico, | was pleased to leam from the ABQ Journal that you have decided to halt fetal tissue research at the University of New Mexico. | appreciate you taking this action and hope itis a first step in bringing UNM to a place where all lives are valued and protected, understand that you have 72 fetal tissue remains in your possession and have not decided what you plan to do with them, !tis my belief — and the belief of men and women of faith across the nation ~ that these human remains are worthy of a proper burial Ihave made arrangements with a local mortuary to receive these human remains so that they may be buried with dignity and respect. | have access to an appropriate burial plot and | am also working with various church leaders in the Albuquerque area to prepare for a suitable funeral. This will all be at no cost to UNM. Itis our hope that the University of New Mexico will see the significance of this request and act accordingly to ensure that these human remains are honored with a proper burial, The mortuary has asked to know by August 20, 2018, if UNM will transfer the remains to them, so | appreciate response from you by then.
