ALAMINOS CITY — The city of Alaminos was declared Monday as drug-cleared, becoming only the
second local government unit in Pangasinan to achieve this feat.

This was disclosed by Chief Inspector Norman Florentino, chief of the police community relations of the
Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPPO) following a ceremony held here today (Monday).

He said Alaminos City and Laoac joined Sto. Tomas which is considered the only drug-free town of
Pangasinan as it has no record of any drug abuse and drug distribution since way, way back.

Florentino said the ceremony recognizing Alaminos as drug-cleared was attended by PNP Regional
Director Charlo Collado and Director Jeoffrey Tacio of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in
Region 1.

Also in attendance were Pangasinan Police Director Senior Supt. Ronald Oliver Lee and the PDEA
provincial director.

Alaminos City Mayor Arthur Celeste hailed the declaration of his city as drug-cleared and thanked the
police led by Supt. Benjamin Ariola, chief of police, and the PDEA in clearing the city of illegal drugs.

Florentino said there are 39 barangays of Alaminos City and only one is drug-free. All 38 drug-affected
were already cleared as of today.

Florentino said the next town set to be declared drug-free on Thursday is Agno while the towns of San
Nicolas and Natividad are next on the line pending completion of validation by PDEA.
He said there are now 1,088 drug-cleared barangays, out of the 1,269 that are drug-affected in
Pangasinan. There are 1,269 barangays in the province that are unaffected by drugs.

To date, the remaining uncleared barangays total 181. PNA-northboundasia.com
