Primary Research
Problem Formulation: The Government of Haryana through Directorate of
Industries and Commerce, Haryana proposes to undertake survey of working manufacturing and service sector units, established in the state. The database of all such units along with relevant information gathered through the survey would be essential for statistical analysis in framing future development initiatives & policies for overall growth & sustainability of industries in the state. For this purpose the department has engaged the services of Mott Mac Donald, a UK based consultancy firm to conduct an extensive survey of industries in Haryana.

Research Objective: To observe the present scenario of Micro, Small, Medium

and Large Scale Industries in Haryana.

Research Methodology: For this market survey primary method of data

collection was used. A sample size of 616 Industrial units were taken and questionnaires were made to fill by them. Simple random sampling was used as there were different kind of Industrial units were there in the taken sample, and each & every type of Industrial unit is important we cannot segment them on any basis.

Findings & Conclusion

The survey would throw light on number of functional industrial units,
employment generated by them, level of investments and production and exports. This data, once it is ready, would help the state government in framing policies and initiative for industrial development. Most of the industrial units whether micro, small or medium has never got any kind of subsidy(Capital, Gen Set, Freight e.t.c) and Financial Assistance (e.g Interest free loan) from the State Government. This survey will help Haryana Government to add details to their existing details about each and every Industrial units and to collect data for the various different departments (e.g Human Resource Department, Income tax, Electricity board e.t.c) at the same time. Through this survey an Unique Registration Number (URN) will be allotted to each and every industrial unit which will be one time registration for the Industries, instead of using their other registration deatails (e.g TIN no, PAN no, Service tax no e.t.c) for the various transaction purpose industries can use the URN allotted to them as it will consist all their other registration details within it.

Recommendations & Suggestions

Haryana Government in association with Directorate of Commerce &
Industries can launch an e-Governance website in which Industrial units can use UNIQUE REGISTRATION NUMBER allotted to them as their Login ID.

Government can offer Industrial plots to those Industrial units who

wants to shift their units from non confirming area to confirming areas.

Government can also offer Industrial plots on Government rate to those

Industries who wants to expand their business & to those who have huge potentiality to grow in future.

Government of Haryana can allow subsidies to those Industrial units

who are incurring loss in order to recover their profit earning status.
