INTRODUCTION

Introduction Quintiles is the only fully integrated bio and pharmaceutical services provider offering clinical, commercial, consulting and capital solutions. Our 23,000 employees in 60 countries have helped develop or commercialize all of the top 30 best-selling drugs.

Specifications They wanted to look better than their competitors. Reduce Manual Interventions to a certain level. Include the application in the Quintiles brand family.

Constraints Developing Technology was not fixed

PREVIOUS APPLICATION

Design structure to be improved. Not consistent with Quintiles family. Welcome Text, Logout, Edit and Current date, placement to be improved. Unnecessary white space in the center. Every time user clicks a navigation link, a new page opens in the same window. The navigation links gets replaced by advanced options for that respective link. User is forced to come back to home page for navigating to other pages. No quick view / Overview Dashboard for products Categorization not clear.

CONTEXTUAL INQUIRY

Four questions sequence: Open ended / Follow up / Probe / Prompt Questions How often do they use the application? for what purpose? Common / uncommon task?... What are the Manual Task that they perform? how often What feature should have been in the application to ease their work? why do they feel, that feature is required?

Issues Trapped (Generic) Users are unhappy with the manual process involved. Too many steps involved to perform a simple task. Interface not too intuitive Reporting feature is very complex and requires manual intervention like running an external script.
